The maximum number of students per truck is 6, but generally is 4 or less.
The first week, approximately 40hrs, are spent in the classroom. Additional classroom and home work time will also take place over the remainder of the course.

The CDL program is a fast paced course so it’s better suited to those who learn well in a short amount of time. As compared to most other company sponsored programs, it seems to be right on par with the amount of time spent in a classroom and behind the wheel learning different maneuvers, so this appears to be a nice quick program to safely obtain your CDL-A drivers license.
On the road training is based on number of days and mileage. The first 30-days and 15,000 miles are spent with an assigned driver trainer. Both of the 30 day time frame and the 15,000 mile requirements must be met. After your first 30 days with the driver trainer, you will enter the C.A.T. Program (Career Advancement Team). During this time, 60 days are spent with an independent contractor who will be your finishing trainer. While with the finishing trainer in the C.A.T. program, you will observe how the lease operator program works at CR England and are considered a Second Seat Driver.
For the first 30 days, you will be paid $61.43 per day, which equates to $430 per week. The next 60 days as a Second Seat Driver in the C.A.T. Program are paid at 12 cents per mile for every mile the truck operates. You will also receive pickup, drop off, and detention pay during this time. The average pay will be $450 to $600 per week.
Training trucks and C.A.T. trucks are given team based load assignments.
Except in certain circumstances (husband and wife want to train together, etc.), there is only 1 student per trainer.
Yes, while the truck is in motion students must sleep in the bottom bunk.
Any trainer / trainee disputes are handled through the trainees assigned dispatcher on a case-by-case basis.
Yes, non-smoking trainers may be requested.
All trainers must have a minimum of 6-months safe driving experience.
The company paid training program appears to be very comparable to other companies of its size. Spending about 1 month with a company trainer is a nice amount of time, especially since that’s followed by a 60-day period teamed up with an experienced independent contractor.
If you’re interested in leasing a truck through CR England, this is an important time to learn the details of leasing a truck. However, as always, we highly recommend all drivers stay away from leasing a truck at any company.
There are two options, you may lease a used CR England truck for 6 months as a "demo lease" or you may lease your own truck. Both options will pay based upon the independent contractor pay scale. All empty miles are paid at $0.80 / mile. Loaded pay is based on a sliding pay scale:
There are two options:
As a company driver, you will receive a 1cpm increase after 6 months and a 2cpm 6 months later. At that point, you will receive 1cpm each year you remain a driver at CR England up to 42cpm.
No, CR England does not currently offer a fuel bonus program to company drivers. However, stop pay, unload pay, and layover compensation is offered.
