FFE Transport Company Policies

Do you allow pets?

Yes, one small dog (under 50lbs.) or cat. Charged \$100 deposit and decrease in pay of 1cpm.

What is the company's rider policy?

One rider 12 years of age or older is allowed with proper company approval and paperwork for insurance purposes.

TruckingTruth's View On FFE Company Policies

FFE is one of the few remaining carriers which allow pets on company provided equipment. Compared with other companies who have pet policies in place, the deposit and reduced mileage pay is about average. Please not, however, that during the CDL training academy and while in company training (approximately the first 10 weeks) pets are not allowed. You must wait until you are a solo driver in order to bring your pet along. The rider policy is comparable to other companies of its size.

FFE Transport Driving Opportunities

Do you have a leasing program, and will I be persuaded or incentivized to lease?

Yes, a lease program and a "Drive To Own" program are available for those who wish to become independent contractors. Some incentives include choice of trucks and features (APU's, decals, etc.).

What divisions do you have? (local, dedicated, regional, tanker, flatbed, reefer)

Dedicated and regional opportunities are available in addition to OTR.The fleet mostly consists of refrigerated freight specializing in high value food products, but some dry-van freight (mostly non-refrigerated food) is available.

FFE also recently started running a tanker operation hauling water to and from oil rigs. This is a local position for drivers living near, or willing to relocate to Midland / Odessa, TX

TruckingTruth's View On Opportunities At FFE Transport

FFE actually stands for Frozen Foods Express, so you can imagine they almost exclusively haul refrigerated freight in the food industry. Few local opportunities are available but regional and dedicated positions appear to open up on a fairly frequent basis.

A lease-to-own program also exists, but as with all other companies, we highly recommend you stay away from any leasing program. The lease program benefits the trucking company much more than it benefits the individual driver.

FFE Transport Equipment

What kind of trucks do you have?

Mostly Freightliner Century and Cascadia models. Average truck age is 24 months, the transmissions are 10-speed manuals.

Do you run electronic logs?

Yes, the fleet is currently switching to e-logs.

What are your trucks governed at?

Company trucks are governed at 62 mph, lease trucks at 65 mph.

Do you have APU units?

APU's are available on Lease Operator trucks only. All trucks are equipped with opti-idle systems and bunk heaters.

TruckingTruth's View On FFE Transport Equipment

FFE transport truck

Most companies the size of FFE keep their equipment in good shape and we haven't seen any reason to believe FFE is any different, especially considering the average age of equipment (24 months for power units). Truck speeds are about average for most companies of its size.

While APU's (Auxiliary Power Units -- used to heat and cool the truck without idling) are not offered on company provided trucks, all trucks are equipped with bunk heaters and an opti-idle system which automatically starts and stops the engine to maintain proper temperature and keeps the batteries charged.
