Hey y'all. Been driving for a little over a year now. Made it over the one year hump and the doors are slowly starting to open. I decided to start my career pulling a flatbed in order to gain the open deck experience with an eye to future for heavy haul/oversize. (Could always get into reefer/dry van if flats got slow). This industry has totally changed my life for the better and I wouldn't give it up for the world. If by chance you are reading this and have any questions, I'd be more than willing to answer.
Stay loaded my friends.

Hi mason. This has been an extremely insightful post. I am currently talking with a recruiter from prime and am really stoked about possibly bein able to sign on with them. You said it was 20 weeks to get thru the program. Would I be correct in assuming that means from day one getting off the bus in Springfield to getting the keys for your own truck? How much cash would you recommend having on hand for the training period? I can get by on next to nothin. Just need ciggs, water and ramen noodles and I'm a happy camper. I'm kinda up against a wall financially speaking and would like to get thru training with as little out of pocket as possible. Thanks again for such a great post.

Hey y'all. Pretty new here. I'm 31yo and I'm trying to get into the industry on a VERY limited budget (300$ in the bank)I have my written exams done and just need to take my skills/road test which i am certain i will pass. Have drove trucks before for friends. I'm lookin for advice on the best way to go about getting 6-12 months experience driving tankers to hopefully get a job in Texas hauling water/ frac sand. I have friends already there who say they can get me a job tomorrow but I just need the experience. Should I just go with one of the big carriers (swift, Pam, jb hunt etc) to get "proper" training then bail and pay them off later or get my license and go sit at a truck stop in Odessa and hope I can chat up the right driver or possibly see if i can find a mom/pop op that will hire with no real training? Anyone know of any companies willing to train in south or west texas? Would a FL cdl be recognized out there? I know my questions are a bit scattered, I just need some solid guidance from pros, not just the word of my buddies. Thanks for time.
If my questions have already been answered in another thread, I do apologize.

Choose Prime over Swift
Hey Jacen, thanks for replying so quickly. So just to make sure I'm understanding you correctly here, the 200$/week is when I'd be on the road prior to going back to Springfield to test out? From what I've read after testing out I'd basically be driving teams with a trainer and getting a check for 12cmp or $600 and whatever advances or loans would be deducted from that.
