Wilson Logistics Training: Start Date: 12/13/21. A Librarian Learns Trucking!

Congrats on passing your CDL! I just finished up my TNT phase with Wilson. I’ll be back in Missoula tomorrow to start my solo week.

Well, I haven't updated this in a while because things have been *busy*! After getting my CDL and having a few days to pick that up in South Dakota and do some hiking, we hit the road last Saturday (1/8/22). We got a load from Missouri up to Washington state, and then another to just outside Atlanta. I've been putting in the miles and getting experience dealing with various situations. Sleeping in a moving truck while the other person drives takes some getting used to, but experience and exhaustion help with that, lol. Another reason why I wouldn't want to do team driving in the future.

But I'm loving the experience and the travel. I've been to 20 states so far and came across four time zones in 2 days. Wyoming is definitely "exciting" in winter.

Now that I have my CDL and am officially a Wilson employee, I just got my first paycheck. Feels good (and necessary!) to be bringing in income again. They also reimbursed me for my gas in driving to training and then when I drove back up to South Dakota and back to Missouri (I drove my own car).

From here, we keep rolling until I've gotten in 30,000 miles. We're up to 4,200 already. We took a day off here near Atlanta. My trainer went golfing while I got a shower, did some laundry, paid bills, and generally just relaxed.

If people have questions about Wilson's program, please let me know. Otherwise, I'll just drop a little update in this diary from time-to-time.

Wilson Logistics journey, From Corrections Officer to truck driver.

I'll be following your journey too. I noticed you're also from Vegas as well. Us desert rats are going to be in for a weather shock. Lol

They're sending me to Montana.

Are you going to be training in Missouri or Montana? I'm leaving this weekend to start training with Wilson in MT. I am leaving a 32 year career...I look forward to following your journey.

Wilson Logistics journey, From Corrections Officer to truck driver.

Hey guys,

Figured I'd come on here and start a journey diary. I'll be starting with Wilson Logistics, got my med card now I'm working on obtaining my permit. I'm pretty excited to be starting with Wilson. I been doing a lot of research and think Wilson is a good fit for my needs.

Here's alittle about myself. I'm 26, and currently a Corrections Officer for the state. I been a CO for a few years now and I just don't see myself being here for 25-30years. Everyone bashed on me for wanting to leave a state job to become a truck driver. Everyone says I should just suck it up till retirement and then think about switching careers. Being a truck driver is something I always dreamed about especially because I'm some what of an introvert.

This is going to be a very big jump for me and if I'm being honest. I'm pretty damn nervous and scared because I am leaving a state job for the unknown and I don't know what lies over the horizon.

That's it for now.
