New to the forum... class A driver many years ago, but haven't ground gears in many years.
I'm now managing a fleet of 26' box trucks. We've had some thefts recently of the catalytic convertors. The dirtbags got about $100 of heroin money, and I got stuck with a bill for $3,000 each time.
I cannot see a realistic way to build a shield that would deter theft... it would need to be the size of a 55- gallon drum, and I'd need to weld one edge to my driveshaft (!!!).
I see a product online--- for $1,000--- that is basically a wire rope/ cable net around the cat, making it tougher to be stolen. The idea is that hopefully a thief will seek easier prey (sorry, everybody else). It's not THAT secure, though.
Anybody got ideas on how to prevent these thefts, short of posting a sniper on my yard?
Thx,
Ken

Save my cats!
I like the idea of the turrets best... we have trucks parked in a dozen different states, and various locations within each state. Some lots are semi- secured, others less so. However, even our fenced, guarded lots in some metros have had thefts.
