Honestly you probably should have done your research. There's tons of information available in this day and age. I want to say there may be a few team drivers here but it would probably work best for a couple. As long as you pay them back it doesn't really matter I suppose.
The problem with this is that most information on this forum is outdated.

CDL Training for someone with experience
I have looked at all of the information on the FMCSA' S website all of which state that there is no federal minimum training hours requirement for ELDT. Where is this 160 hours requirement?

Have you looked at Cypress? Predominantly Florida company. I grew up North of the i10, saw them around. Old School has recommended them in the past, so that there, is a good thing from an expert flatbedder.
They train. Refresher? Not sure. Type freight? Flatbed only.
Website says they'll pay you for 2 to 7 weeks of training; that might be in your wheelhouse.
Training info at mid/bottom of page:
We 'try' to help, sir.

ps: Please let us know.
pps: Thought of another one; Trans Am. They pretty much 'have' no training, last I'd heard. They have a yard in Tampa.
Actually I will be giving Cypress a call tomorrow. I didn't want flatbed because of the extra work that's possibly involved. I'm going on 66 this year, still limber and move around like I'm still in my 20's, but things are starting to remind me that I'm not as young as I used to be.

We gave you a lot of solid advice before, Chuck/Jasper, but you didn't follow along then. What will be different now?
Things change from one day to the next. Appreciate all the advice.

This from the FMCSA DOT GOV
"If an applicant who obtained a CLP prior to February 7, 2022, and obtains a CDL before the CLP or renewed CLP expires, the applicant is not subject to the ELDT requirements. Any individual who meets one of the exceptions for taking a skills test in 49 CFR Part 383 is also exempt from the ELDT requirements."
This tells me that if I can find a 20 hour course that can get me up to date with Pretrip and a couple maneuvers, I don't need to do the 160 hour course.
I know a couple of companies that will take me as long as I have a CDL and Medical card, they will provide me with their refresher course. Problem is I live in Florida, 130 miles south of I-10 on the space coast. Schneider told me that they don't offer school in my area.
Some companies like Stevens want you to show a work history. I've been running my own business since 2009 and even though I have filed taxes every year, they won't accept my taxes for self employed.

Howdy, Jasper;
Welcome to TT !
You could try right here: Apply For Truck Driving Jobs and when you apply and it asks if you have your CDL etc, just specify 'refresher training.'
Another company that was famous for a refresher in the past, was Schneider. I'm not sure if they still do. You could also check with CFI.
That's a start!
Hope it helps;
~ Anne ~
As mentioned in my post, I DO NOT have my CDL, only my permit and medical card. I have filled out the online application on this website. Again, looking for a refresher course TO GET my CDL.

CDL Training for someone with experience
I have gotten my CDL permit BEFORE FEBRUARY 7th and I have my medical card. I have 5 years OTR experience but that was 12 years ago and I have since let my CDL expire. I'm looking for some sort of refresher course to get my CDL back. I do not need 3 weeks of training with a small group for thousands of dollars. Is there anything that would help me that is not EDPT?
It seems that after February 7th, most if not all schools no longer do refreshers. Thank You

I have a new question, didn't want to start another thread. The February 7th changes seem to be confusing to some and maybe to me as well. I've called around to some private schools and get different answers.
One shool told me that I can test out with just a permit if I got the permit before the 7th. He also told me that if I do not have my license then I cannot take a refresher course. Thinking to take the refresher course mostly for the pretrip as some states are different than others.
Another school tells me that if I don't have my license it doesn't matter what the law states, I have to take the full 160 hour course... I'm guessing he's saying that for the money.
>I called Road Masters here in Orlando and they said they are only training people who are going to Werner, so if I'm not going with Werner I cannot test there.
Chuck;
I agree with G'town; CLICK THAT LINK!! (Kinda like AGT .. push that buzzer!)
If you do go with RoadMasters (that's who Tom graduated with in 2003, needing to meet (greet) the buck sixty then,) what's wrong with Werner? Granted, that was NO stipulation/partnership, back then. Tom went with USX ... have you looked into them? Raider Express? Pride Transport?
Just be cognizant of the fact, that Werner likes to pair new drivers with Dollar Store Accounts. Read PapaPig's summary diary, here:
1 Year Review of Werner DG/Dedicated.
And, his departure from said account:
Wish you the best, either way. Trying to 'think outside' the box, for ya!

I have a company I decided to go with and a school I will be going with. I don't want to post it because I feel like I'm jinxing myself even though I'm not superstitious, I don't think.
