Brand New to Trucking

Hi there, I am wanted to start a trucking business. I’d like to purchase a truck and get my CDL license. I currently work a full time job Monday - Friday. I live in Florida. I have a few questions about getting started:

- can I get my CDL while working full time? (Can I use the weekend to get my license)? - How long does it take to get a CDL? - Can I get a CDL without going to school? - If I have to go to school, is there a school where I do NOT have to sign a contract to work for that particular company? - Being that I’d like to be independent, can I also be my own broker?

Please share any advice you have about starting out from the beginning and starting a trucking business.

Thank you so much in advance.

Florida CDL Permit Questions

Hi, I have a few questions regarding obtaining a Florida CDL Permit. I have been trying to contact the Florida CDL customer support for days now and I cannot get a hold of anyone. I am temporarily residing in Arizona, however, my permanent residence is in Florida. I do not have a home in Florida and the only ties I have to Florida are my driver's license, my license plates for my vehicles, my car registration, my car insurance, a bank account with a credit union that is only in Florida, and a Florida mailbox. Will any of this suffice as proof of residency? If not, do you have any advice? FYI: I do not have any ties to Arizona, I am staying at an Air BNB and I do not pay utilities. However, I do have a mailbox attached to the place I am staying. My next question is; can I take the Florida CDL permit test online at home or somewhere here in Arizona instead of flying back to Florida to take the test? I really appreciate your time and help in advance.

Thank you! :)
