Most companies require you to report all accidents or tickets.

Oh yes, just after calling the police I reported it to my company. They made me draw pictures and everything.

Ok, so I am looking at choosing my first company, and I believe reefer will be my choice as far as what to haul. The following are the companies that I am considering, so I would appreciate any insight that can be offered to help me in the decision-making process:

I know that some of these carriers haul more than just reefer, or more specifically, some don't have a division just for reefer.

Just watch your reefer light AND MAKE SURE TO TURN THE THING BACK ON IF YOU TURN IT OFF. Had someone I worked with before that didn't turn theirs back on and when they got to their next stop the product was 60+ degrees and rejected. Driver fired immediately.

My DM told me he has a load for me going to Glenwood Springs CO, just from our yard in Aurora CO, They havent dispatched me yet on it. I told him Id keep an eye on the weather and road conditions over the pass and let him know. He said, likewise, he would keep an eye for the trailer getting in into the yard as it was coming from Cheyenne.

Ive driven 70 in the mountains a lot, in very unroadworthy vehicles, but never in a big truck yet. I taught skiing at winter park, and lived up in Frasier CO, so not a stranger to the road conditions and weather up there. I checked the road conditions and weather, road cameras up there all morning. Its borderline. Mostly wet, some snow and ice in places. Ive seen much worse, and see a lot of trucks running there. Not withstanding, I messaged my DM that I have some concerns about road conditions in a few areas and sent him screenshots of the CDOT road cameras. I also noted a long line of trucks at the chain up area, pulled off. Part of my concerns is the temp will only reach 33 today, leaving a wet roadway to refreeze in the evening and night.

I understand that Im the captain of my ship, and if I dont feel safe, dont run. But it feels borderline, and I feel like Im being a slacker by not calling and telling him I want to run that load. Is that normal to feel like that? This is the first time that Ive felt it may be questionable to run. Im having a hard time shaking my mindset from years of working construction: You get your a$$ to work no matter what the weather is.

If you're not comfortable then don't pull it. I took an entire week off from winter weather last winter because I'm not driving in that! Good company will understand.

Year or so ago in the state of Texas I was making a pass in the passing lane when a car merged into me. It scratched my passenger side step and there was a scratch on her hubcap. Texas DPS shows up and looks at the damage and tells me it's a "non reportable accident" because the damage was so minimal.

Is there a way I can find out if this is on my record or if there's points? Also it might be a dumb question but WTF is a "non reportable accident"????

I probably would of just bought the damn thing out of pocket, and sent the receipt to the company for reimbursement after explaining what happened.

Next time you're at a company shop, get two spare mudflaps. Stow these under your mattress until needed. Problem solved.

It's a really good idea unfortunately I'm on an offside account and rarely make it to a terminal but I'll grab a couple next time I'm there

I've had flaps with people before, but this is a muddy one. No well managed business should chase away a sale. Might be worth a call to the manager to report this situation.

Agreed. He chased my sale all the way over to Love's. I thought about calling the manager just to see their policy on it because the guy that wouldn't sale the mud flap just made no sense. He kept telling me he was ringing it up "as a service" and I replied "I don't need service I just need you to sale me the mud flap" to which he refused. Crazy Stuff.

No I have never experienced something like this. My question is why did you keep going back and forth with him?? After the 2nd attempt to explain I would have politely asked to speak with the on duty manager. I certainly would not have wasted 30 minutes having a back and forth with the first person.

Because I bought parts there before with the same method which I was trying to explain it to him. He was trying to call a number on my company card for a confirmation number which took time as well while I was explaining to him there's money on the card already. I think he was the manager as it was 2 in the morning

Just curious if this has ever happened to any of yall. I went to TA Dallas to buy a mud flap, mechanic was acting smug the entire time. I tell him I'm paying with my company card and he takes my card and tries to call some number to authorize it. I keep telling him there's access to money on the card just ring up the mud flap like any other type of sale. He refused and kept trying to bill it as a service. I once again remind him that I have access to use the card for parts if he would just ring the mud flap up and sale it regularly. He refused. I told him I'm not in need of service I just need to buy a mud flap and we go back and forth with him refusing to sale me the mud flap. I walk out in disbelief that I couldn't just purchase a mud flap so I drive down the road to Love's and bought one.

Has this happened to anyone else before? I've usually been able to buy mid flaps without any issues. He literally refused the sale to me and wasted 30+ minutes of my time.
