CDL class A with bus driving experience

My husband has a truck leased with a company. I want to join as a team. Im getting my class A permit and trying to gain experience without getting training except from my husband. I thought about driving a bus for a year to gain experience so I could signed on with my husbands company. They only ask for a years experience. Since I would have had training with him operating the truck but technically having bus driver training on paper would the insurance company cover me? Not sure how to get around this. Any thoughts? Thanks guys
