Looking to Relocate to Florida

Hello Everyone,

I am looking to relocate to Florida in the next couple of months. Can anybody refer me to a good trucking school that offers training and certification?

Thank You,

Cypress Truck Lines is a company that will cover the cost of obtaining your CDL then train you to drive for them.

Roadmaster has a school in Orlando and they work with Werner.

Schneider will sponsor you to get your CDL at a school in Florida. You will have to contact Schneider to find out what schools they work with.

Hi Kerry,

Thank you for information! I will follow up with those companies. Can you refer me to any companies in Texas?

Best, Chris

Florida generally limits your options significantly, due freight lanes alone. Just FYI.

Thanks Chris! That is good to know. Where would recommend that are good opportunities for a newly hired Trucker?

Where in Florida? As posted, areas within the state make it even worse on an OTR possibility. North of Interstate 4 helps. Lots of material enters the state, although not a large percentage of goods travel from the state.

Good Morning,

I am moving to the Clearwater / Tampa area. Interesting, I thought that Florida would be more willing to help Trucker move goods and service through the state. Since here on the West Coast, the politicians are tying the hands of Truckers due to their strict emissions laws. In fact at the Port of Long Beach, Truckers can wait all day to pick up a load and some are even turned away. The Port of Long Beach has required all the cargo ships to move farther out to anchor, so people don't see all the container ships on the horizon.
