10may2022 After driving and backing around the parking lot in Joplin, I drove to Bentonville. Had to switch drivers because I missed a turn and my trainer had to bail me out. He told me not to worry about it. I have always been pretty hard on myself and was very frustrated at myself. Trainer got us to a Love's just south of Memphis. Where we stayed for the night.

We stayed there all day and then got a call that a driver down the road was out of hours, loaded and her reefer shutdown. Dispatch wanted us to switch loads and get hers to the shop in Birmingham. When she got her hours back she would meet us there and switch loads again. We got some rest and she got to us at around 0700. Now that we have our original load back, we take it to get unloaded. Got our next dispatched load, we pick up Friday morning at 0530 in Birmingham and go to Georgia to unload at 2300 Friday night.

I have learned so much thes last few days. He is still hoping I can test out next week. Then I can start TNT training.

10May2022 Unloaded in Carthage, then got to go to the caves to pick up our next load. Finally stopped for the night at the Big Apple truck stop in Joplin.

11May2022 Worked on some backing in the parking lot of the truck stop and did some driving today. Our load is going to Birmingham, AL. But our Appointment isn't until Thursday at 0600. It's only 577 miles, we have plenty of time to get there.

Trainer came and picked me up tonight. We are going on the road for a week or two. Then come back to Springfield to test out for my CDL. Then get right into TNT with the same trainer.

Night didn't start very well. Did a pretrip and found a huge gash in the RF steer tire. Had to get it replaced.

Luckily they were quick and our first drop off is close (Carthage,MO).

Sorry that it's been a few days. I have been really busy. Wednesday went to the pad at 1300. A storm came through and they canceled our pad time. So, some of us got together and studied pre trip. Thursday reported to the pad at 0800. Did a pre trip on a truck and then another storm (we have had some pretty nasty storms the last couple of days. We took a class on trip planning and how to use a motor carriers road atlas. In the middle of class a trainer called and wanted to meet up that afternoon. Met my trainer, he is pretty laid back and we seem to get along. Said he was trying to get a load for Monday and wants to do my training on the road. He is hoping to have me test out in about a week. Friday I came over to millennium for safety briefing and free breakfast. Spent the rest of the day doing laundry and studying.

Ok, back to my daily update. I was cleared amd got my badge today at 1100. Told to be at the plaza building at 1300. After an hour classroom time, sent out on the pad. Got to drive a lap without a trailer and then went did a straight line back and an offset left. Done for the day, went and a good meal at the millennium building. The food there is sooooo much better than at the Campus Inn. Back on the pad tomorrow and waiting for a trainer to call me.

No updates as of yet. Really hoping I get cleared today. My roommate got his trainer yesterday and he is getting ready to hit he road for a couple of days. Meanwhile I am stuck here bored and tired of studying.

Just a quick update. Drug is still not back. Hopefully Monday. My roommate has spent the last couple of days at the plaza doing pre-trip and I have been studying endlessly on pretrial in my room. A few from my group have gotten trainers. My hope is when I get my ID on Monday, that my trainer will be here and call.

Had a meeting with Ms. V this morning. She said if I don't get cleared by Friday then I won't get cleared until Monday. Been studying pre-trip and have it down pretty good. Otherwise still waiting. Was hanging out talking to some drivers about lease vs company. Don't know which to do yet, leaning toward company for at least a year. To get my feet wet and learn the business.
