Right now me and my bf are in CDL school.. we’re looking to do team driving, it’s just one thing that’s discouraging us from becoming truckers..

He has a criminal background from when he had drug addiction problems. Pretty much he stole a gun to pawn for drugs and did time for his felony and also got caught with counterfeit money and petty theft. So a felony and 3 misdemeanors in the past 6 years. Since then he’s completed a drug program and has verifiable work with construction companies and machinist jobs.

I have no criminal background, verifiable work. no driving record (he doesn’t either)

We were told to try covenant trucking but they denied him. Prime denied him, swift denied him, a couple recruiters came in to the school from Ohio where we live and they said they use third party background checks which may or may not deny him.

The silver lining is he’s getting his record sealed next month and we’re hoping this can open more opportunities for us but we’re unsure if CDL companies can still see his record somehow since there’s federal regulations involved. (Forgive me if this is wrong)

My question is what companies would approve him?

We heard Schneider but it’s hard to get information. We were looking into western express but the pay and reviews are concerning. TransAm was also suggested but they have the worst reviews we’ve seen so far. CRST was on our radar and Werner we were unsure about.

We just want to work, we don’t care about home time, we want a company that won’t take our money and mistreat us just because his options are limited.
