Some states allow you to take the test for your CDL immediately after receiving your regular license, which makes it possible for someone to have a CDL despite only having held their regular drivers license for a couple months. Could such a person ever be hired for a driving job?
I'm 30 years old, I've only just got my US drivers license, and would be interested in getting a CDL and making a career out of driving. Am I right in thinking this won't be possible until I've held the regular license for several years, even if I do pay for and pass the CDL myself?

Getting CDL with little/no regular driving history.
