Are you all insane? I have never worn a seatbelt and never will. I drove a truck 20 years ago, though it seems like yesterday. Really, 20 years is not long, though it sounds like it. This thread and it's obsession with silly seatbelts is lunacy.
Another thing... cellphone use, or whatever it was.... also crazy. While I was driving, I did 5 things at once: Qualcomm, cellphone, map, eating, and... what did I forget.....? Anyway, I wasn't the only one... my trainer who was anal about rules and laws, he did all 5 things at once too!
Lastly.... Cab cams. I would never drive for a company that had them. If your going to put a camera on me, then you better f'g put one on everyone in the company, including the CEO. I'm not going to be treated like a f'g dog!
I've had two basic occupations in my life: engineering and truck driving. I've been self-employed for the last 20 years and was thinking about getting back into driving, but what you all are saying is scaring the sh$# out of me! How many companies have these cab cams? I can live with the seatbelt rule, because I have in the past and if a company fires me for it, then f 'em! But I will not put up with a camera. What am I supposed to do, ask every company I apply to if they have cameras? Outrageous. Somebody give me some hope because I really don't want to be resigned to going back into engineering.
BTW, I was not a loser truck driver either. I had the best fuel efficiency (most MPG) for my company because I took the shortest routes, took it easy on the brakes and accelerator, and worked the light signals. I blind-side backed whenever I had the opportunity, it was breeze for me, and a shipper once complimented me on my docking.

Fired today for something I wasn’t guilty of
