Dollar General Account

I have to agree with OS. Four months is nothing toward your overall experience.

Tankers is a whole different animal. I did it for years and loved it. If I was still younger and had more time on my career I would still be doing it. Most companies require 1 year OTR experience before they will hire you.

The overall experience you will get between now and that 1 year mark will be invaluable espically with winter driving.

I would highly recommend hanging in there and refinning your skills. That time will pass quickly.

Definitely going to hang in there . Thanks!!

Jay J, there's nothing wrong with making a move to another company or job. I've done it myself. Hanging in there for one year is critical though. You mentioned tankers. Is that something you want to do? What's the motivation?

If it's more money, then I personally teach people to focus on trying to do better where they are now. There's almost always practices we can do to improve our performance and get better results.

How many miles are you averaging weekly? How's your relationship with your dispatcher? If you have questions about how to increase your income, I'd love to have that conversation with you.

Tankers is something I took an interest in but that’ll be far from now , I want to have a local job with that. Average 2500 miles I usually run off recap and relationships are great they keep me running. Going somewhere else might not be good relations so I’ll stick it out with swift and ask about other accounts. Talking to to Schneider it seems like my little 4 months experience will be starting back at day 1. Definitely going to stay and improve my skills

Dollar General Account

Hello Jay!

What's your reason for wanting to jump around like that? Are you dissatisfied with your current situation? Four months isn't much time to try and develop your prospects as a rookie. We almost always recommend sticking with that first job for a full year.

There's still so many things for you to learn. You need to build your reputation and your competence at this job. It's really hard to do that while job hopping around and trying every little thing that interests you.

We also never reccomend Dollar Account jobs for rookies. That can really be a most challenging choice.

Thanks for the reply . Guess I’ll stay put, swift has been good to me.
