Good evening, everyone!
I'm in the Maverick CDL program and scheduled to test for my CDL next Wednesday. I feel confident with my pre-trip and skills, but I've been struggling with how to navigate this particular intersection for the road test (Exit 135 off US HWY 67 at the intersection of West 56th Street in Little Rock, AR).
Hitting the curb is an automatic fail, and I've barely hit it twice now with the rear trailer tire on my driver's side. My instructor keeps telling me that it's my setup that needs work, but for some reason it's just not clicking. Any tips/advice? I'm almost convinced that this is what's going to fail me next week.
My setup is as follows: I'm actually somewhat over the turn lane line dividing line when approaching the intersection. When I initiate, I hug the island with my passenger side as close as I can, but I do struggle to know just how close I am (even with my mirrors). From there I have to straighten out briefly before turning hard to the left.
I would've posted a picture of the intersection itself but I can't seem to figure out how to do so.
Thanks a lot, everyone!

Maverick Transportation Waiting List
Hello everyone!
I'm sorry I never followed up, but I finally received the call from Maverick today with my onboarding and DOT physical dates. Assuming everything goes well with my physical, I am to report in on February 9th.
I asked my recruiter about the waiting list again, but she didn't offer much. She did make mention of my position (regional Atlantic flatbed) and said something to the effect of, "I'm sure you've been waiting a while".
So, maybe it was the position itself that was the hangup? I'm not entirely sure, but I am beyond relieved to finally get this ball rolling.
Anyway, thanks to everyone who responded! Lord willing, I'll continue to be an active member moving forward!

Maverick Transportation Waiting List
Good morning, everyone!
New to Trucking Truth, so I hope this is the correct forum for my question. I am currently on the waiting list for a spot in the Maverick CDL training program, but I'm curious how long people usually wait for a spot to become available. I got the application started back in November (everything came back perfect, no issues) and receive updates from my recruiter every couple of weeks stating that they're just waiting on an opening. Unfortunately, my recruiter is not able to give me any information on an estimated timeframe. In fact, I was told that that kind of information is strictly internal. Is this unusual or par the course for Maverick? I've heard great things about the company and the quality of the CDL training they offer, but I also don't want to be on the hook for an indiscriminate amount of time.
Thanks for your time!

CDL Exam Road Trip Advice
Hi Errol,
Thank you so much for the tips and advice. I will definitely apply this during our drive on Monday.
You absolutely nailed it, it's that last third of the maneuver that's getting me. I just hope I can get the hang of it by Wednesday!
Thanks again for your response!
