After talking with several different companies I'm strongly leaning toward starting my new career with Prime. I have a tentative date to start training on May 5.
I'm 49 years old and find myself needing to start a new career. It's scary at this age to start something new, especially something like a career in truck driving.
I'd appreciate advise from anyone, especially those who have worked for Prime, been to Prime's CDL training or those who have entered this profession a little later in life.

I also submitted an application with Prime but it's been about two weeks and I haven't heard back from them.
Have you tried calling Prime to check on the status of your application?
I haven't called them because when I heard back from the others so quickly I assumed that for some reason Prime wasn't interested.

I'm looking at three companies and I'd really appreciate any information that anyone can offer on any or all of these companies. I need training to get my CDL and due to personal circumstances I'm going to have to go with a company that offers training.
The companies that I've had contact with are:
1). CR England
2). USA Truck (Through Driver Solutions)
3). Swift
I also submitted an application with Prime but it's been about two weeks and I haven't heard back from them.
I know that every company has good points as well as bad points. That's why I like the feedback from people actually in the trucking industry.
Any and all feedback is greatly appreciated.

I'm trying to make a decision on where to start my trucking career and would like to hear from people who have been through this. From the companies I've looked at I'm leaning toward going with SWIFT because they have training near by and the recruiter has been more willing to give information than so of the other recruiters I've spoken with.
My hesitation comes from all the negative things I've seen on the internet regarding SWIFT. I'm not sure if what I'm hearing is typical or just unhappy people who want a place to vent. Anyone who is willing to offer their experiences with SWIFT in general or the SWIFT academy in Richmond, VA in particular will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I have been talking with several different companies about starting a truck driving career. I have looked on the internet and find negative stories on almost all the companies that I've been looking at. Just wondering is some folks that visit truckingtruth.com could offer some feedback?
I've been talking with Swift, CR England, and a recruiter with Driver Solutions about USA Truck. Any feedback will be appreciated regarding experiences with these and other entry lever companies.

Trucking Truth Training Works
I agree. I read the Virginia CDL manual and picked up some facts and figures. I've started the online CDL training here and I'm amazed at how much I'm retaining. I'm feeling a lot more confident about going to the DMV and taking the test.
