Can anyone loan their truck for CDL test? In NC?
My son paid 150.00 to use a college truck to take his CDL test and did not go to school but already had a job that wanted him to get his CDL. Check into that, might be doable.

I went to Prime with my class A permit, studied the pre-trip on the pad for days, went out with a trainer, and was let go after 5 days. I did not want to lease and my recruiter kept telling me I had to lease. My trainer told his manager with Prime I was untrainable and would not listen. What a bunch of crap. I drove a school bus for 19 years and I was never wrote up for not doing the job correctly. I had 4 cameras and a GPS on my bus. If I was such an idiot I'm sure it would have been recorded. My trainer was an unhappily married man looking to change jobs. He told me and I heard him talking on the phone while he was driving. Prime Inc. does not want company drivers. They want to lease you a truck. Guess who owns the company where the trucks come from. The owner of Prime Inc.

Vicki if I listened to all the negative crap I'd never would have learned to drive a stick sift truck, pull a trailer, pull baby calves, drive a 4020 John Deere tractor and put up my own hay. Woman aren't as strong as some men but we can do whatever we put our minds to just like our male counterparts. I get the job done which is all that's required. Yes turning a corner in the city will be a challenge but when first starting out it is that way for everyone.

I have CDL Class B and a permit to get my Class A, where do I go from here to get the experience?
What you see on the Prime website is true, the drivers have all the perks. I'm on the pad doing pre-trips on a truck and trailer while waiting on a trainer. I'm so burnt from being in the sun for 2.5 days, 8 am to 5 pm. I've got to straight line back 5 times now. I've drove a Volvo and a Freightliner. Another day on the pad tomorrow.

I'm here at Prime and they do have a school! Day one complete. Don't have much time to go over what my day was like right now but will try to night. All I can say is my first day was long, very long. Got to the room at 10 pm straight from SIM LAB. I drove and backed a semi, instructor said I did good. Yeah me! Patting myself on the back, not bragging, ok.

Mongo, I have questions that I hope you can answer. Does Prime have a school and if you have your CDL permit with tanker do you still go to school or go out with a trainer instead? Need answers please and thank you.

I believe you have to be 21 to get your CDL. Good luck and welcome.

Central, Prime, or Stevens? ??
I was hoping that was true because I do want the school time. It has been a long time sinse I've drove a semi. I'm not trying to cut corners, I'm just going by what I'm being told. Thank you Starcar for giving me some information I'll keep reading others posts and see what they are saying. I did PM Daniel to get his input but haven't heard back yet.

Truck Leasing at Prime
No sour grapes guys but the way it was for me. My recruiter talked to me about leasing more than once. I kept saying I wanted to be a company driver and go team but there was only one person on my team. I came off the road 35 years ago after my second husband was killed because I did not want to be a solo driver. As far as advise I've always asked for and took it to heart. I strive to do my best but sometimes your best just isn't good enough. How many of you got double clutching and down sifting in three days driving a total of 15 hours? How many of you had someone hollering at you if you asked a question? Or had your question ignored? I'm thankful that I'm not with Prime because I have an oppertunity to go to work for the USPS making 16.25 an hour. Wishing you all the best.
