CDL yard skills and road test Tuesday morning! !!!
Well, I woke up this morning all full of confidence and glee, looking forward to heading to the DMV........saw lightning off in the distance north of the house. :( Went to school, met up with one of the instructors and the guy who is taking the class with me, his appointment was 8 mine was 9. It started to rain and then storm so he was delayed. He got his pretrip done, did his pull forward and straight back. and then the bottom fell out with rain and major storms, so they called it and brought him back in. time 9:05....they wait until 9:30 to call me up, let me know it would not be fair to take me any futher then the pretrip and that there was another appointment at 9:45.
So we head out, do my pre trip, and then we head right back in for a heres your stuff, see you at your next appointment......
I am so sad. rescheduled for next tuesday at 3pm..... yet again...wish me luck.

DALLAS ,Texas newbie need help :)
My school is a certified school, so once i graduate i am considered to have 1 year experience with some companies who acknowledge and accept it. it is a 240 hour school here in IL, and its great. I already have job offers from local companies that i have contacted. And not just OTR offers, some are home everyday if I want to be.

My community college experiences
On July 26, 2014 I started CDL training at Danville Area Community college in Danville, IL. Taking the weekend class option.
Here are the basics
$3500 15 weekends 240 hours
I have wanted to drive a truck since I was about 19, and was told women don't do that. then again a few years later. Well now that i am much older and not under someones thumb it was time to take control and do what I have always wanted to do. So I enrolled.
Weekend 1 was all book work and study for the CDL tests. - we got our Permits this week.
Weekend 2 was pulling forward to the lines, straight backing and the beginnings of alley docking. There are only two of us in class and the guy is a yard jockey at Auto Zone.... he has got backing down. We also do some bobtail shifting in the parking lot.
Weekend 3 was bobtail around town and get used to paying attention to everything around us. plus starting to learn log books, but isnt everyone going electronic Trinity? why learn logbooks? Because, one day that computer is going to break and where will we be?
Weekend 4 is pulling the trailer and doing the DMV run for our test, along with alley docking, pulling forward and straight backing. right hand turn is also mentioned and walked through for DMV scoring.

Hey everyone!
Looking to start my CDL classes at the local community college as soon as 2 other bodies can fill the seats. (it's a weekend class that works for my schedule). I am in talks with a produce delivery company for a local driver position that does not require anything more then class D, and do ride assist for the larger trucks until I get my CDL.
Glad to be here, cannot wait to hear back from people!

I got my CDL!
The next step in my journey was filling out the few bits of paperwork and taking the ever so lovely pee test. Next will be the driving test, and then I am guessing I will be with my training partner put in my training hours and then be on my own. We shall seeeeeee
