FMCSA Issues Final Rule on Windshield-Mounted Technologies September 22, 2016
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) issued a final rule to amend the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSRs) to allow the voluntary mounting of certain devices on the interior of the windshields of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs), including placement within the area that is swept by the windshield wipers.
Section 5301 of the Fixing America's Surface Transportation Act (FAST Act) directs the Agency to amend the FMCSRs to allow devices to be mounted on the windshield that utilize "vehicle safety technology."
In addition, section 5301 states that all windshield-mounted devices and technologies with a limited two-year exemption in effect on the date of enactment shall be considered to meet the equivalent-or-greater safety standard required for the initial exemption.
The announcement of this final rule is a nondiscretionary, ministerial action that does not require prior notice and public comment under the Administrative Procedure Act.

Abandoned equipment once, eight years ago.
Every company has different rules and requirements, but the company I worked for would NEVER hire someone that had abandoned equipment. Same with rollovers and drugs.
Don't limit yourself to just one company, apply to several and you will probably get another shot.
Good luck and be truthful on your applications. They can find stuff out nowadays that is shocking...

New Entry Level Driver Training Rules Have Been Published
All schools, whether public or private will have to comply with the rules put forth. Schools will have to apply, then qualify to be placed on a national registry, similar to how the medical cards are tracked.
All CDL exams will require a certificate from a nationally certified school before a CDL exam can be scheduled.
This is a game changer for our industry...The days of your dad, uncle, grandpa or anyone else training you will be over.

3rd party testing vs. Dept of Driver Services
I'm a third party examiner in Mississippi. We have to go by the same exact grading criteria as the state examiners, but people do seem to be more relaxed when testing with us...
