Casey C.'s Bio

Keen transportation enthusiast who loves machines that move. I am a licensed commercial pilot (CMEI), qualified shipboard navigator, I can sail a sailboat solo, and am an excellent and safe automobile driver. Honorably discharged Persian Gulf War Veteran (Navy).

I am looking forward to learning how to drive a truck, drive professionally, and meet fellow members of my newly chosen profession.

The Philadelphia is where my mail is sent but the world is my home.

Why log off-duty time?

Why not just log time you aren't driving as sleeper berth time? Do you physically have to be in the sleeper berth?

Specific Trucking Jobs

Is anyone familiar with industry specific trucking careers such as those for car racing teams that move the car and crew around, trucking for television or movie production companies that truck cameras/sets/studio equipment, live entertainers and concert production companies, sports teams that move their locker rooms, or government trucking jobs such as for the United States Federal Reserve Bank, etc.?

Establishing a Permanent Residence

I am a single man considering a career as a professional driver. Since I may be spending 90 percent of my time on the road, it doesn't seem practical for me to maintain the expense of my current apartment. Renting a room seems like a good idea. Where do most driver's live when they are not driving? Are there specific websites for drivers who need need simple accommodations? What are the income tax considerations?
