Layed over...

When you do your eta... calculate the miles ..... divide by 52 mph and that should help you get closer to your PTA for your next load...

and if that still continues... Id be chewing some a$$ or looking for a new company..

are they paying you lay-over?

Discuss your problems about wrong driver's directions and how to avoid them.

I have a few place that is listed as "Drivers Direction" and it says DO NOT CALL CUST. only 1 time has that been wrong.. with current company.

Luck enough as drivers for TA we try to update direction when need for other drivers...

that being said I use my maps and navigo (company GPS) and of course a back up. Been thinking about getting a Rand McNally tablet. does anyone have much info on it .. is it worth the $$$$

I have a cell phone and its still the dumbass phone... need to upgrade to a smart phone.. but for $40 a month and its got coverage just about every where... I dont want to change servers

Home time.. checking in

Shawn if Roehl doesnt step up.. dont sit and wait.. keep looking.. lot of companies out there looking. check out Transport America... they have terminals in PA and Ohio..

Sounds like you found a great home Leonard! Glad to hear that! I never knew anything about Transport America so that's my first report on them so they're 1 for 1.

How often are you getting home with those guys?

home time is about when ever you want or need it .. I was making a run got word wife was in the hospital.. they had me home within 36 hours.. dropped the load I was on.. got me one headed toward the house..

they do have driver options on when they want to get home.. also options as OTR.. Regional, and dedicated runs...

Home time.. checking in

What a ride....

Its been a while since Ive been here. so my first Job didnt go so well. Even though I was new to trucking, I had a hunch I was getting screwed around. Plus when I was with my trainer he told me a few things (buddy) dispatcher would do I they did it to me more then once. Putting me a big miles loads and running 1/4 of it and giving them to "Buddy" drivers and putting me on crap runs. the icing on the cake was a 5 day load... relayed 6pm on Thursday afternoon (at their drop yard) and delivery tuesday at 9am ... 200 miles... to top that.. the 2 restarts I had to take on the road they said I used them as days off

Now Ive hooked up with Transport America.. AWESOME COMPANY!

7 months of great running making 5x more then at the 1st company.. thats huge for me and the family. great mile.. keeps me moving, great running trucks.. if something needs fixed it done right away either at a terminal or a truck stop. Home time is fantastic.... was able to get some one on one father-son time in this summer with my boys ... took both out for about 2 week.. they both wrote down where they had been and did a little school project report about their summer road trip..

Update....

Hey all..

Its been a long time since I posted. Well Im no longer work for Con-way. I have found a nice home with Transport America. Been there 6 month now. This past week I was coming through Utah and DOT pulled me in for the road side check. My first one.. my very first DOT check (anything).... YEP... Level 1.. 45 minutes later I get a new sticker for my windshield..

No citation or violation..

OMG!!! first 2 trips out solo. feel like an idiot.

With in my first 2 weeks I got dispatched to Lawenceville GA... then to Greensville Ga.. well the qualcom said Ga..... The dispatched miles (62) didnt add up right so I called the dispatcher and questioned this... he told me that they dispatch from city limit zip code to city limits zip code . That it will add up in the end .. So I drive 100+ mile headed toward Greensville Ga..

I took it straight though Atlanta Ga..... opps.... **** FYI drivers can not drive a truck through Atlanta Ga *****

Well after my Fleet manager call me and asked me where I was going.... By this time Im in Oaksville...... She tells me I was suppose to head to Greensville Sc....OPPS

You think after 20 minutes of me telling the dispatcher that these miles didnt sound right he would have looked into a little closer.

So my FM dispatched me back up to get where I needed to be... Drove right back through the way I came.... Right back through Atlanta ... *** NOTE : Dont drive through Atlanta !

then reloaded for a stop and then still gave me wrong directions to that stop..

I didnt know the Atlanta rule until after I made it to Laredo.. and was chatting with a few guys that had been driving longer then me.. Not to brag here.. but I feel that luck was one my side both ways I didnt get stopped..

Upside to every story...... I got to practice downshifting

What's your favorite sign?

Here is one of mine.

closed_zpsff7b462a.jpg

I think it would be funny as hell.... If the DOT saw trucks coming at the weight station with a CLOSED posted... and change it OPEN just as they get to the sign....

Or..

During new highway construction they post a low clearance sign of 13' 5 3/4"
