Let the training begin

Today I started my CDL training. I am training for PAM Transport. Today was paperwork, practice testing, more paperwork and signing my contract with PAM. Since I already have my permit, the next few days will be review, which is ok since we have to memorize pre trip. So now the first day jitters are over, now time to knuckle down. Until tomorrow

The long road to school

I had my physical Monday, and I start school this coming Monday morning. I am very nervous, but, very optimistic
as well. This ride was doing tons of research, and preparation, but, starting Monday I will give my day by day reports, as I am training, and getting ready for P.A.M. Transport

It has really been a ride choosing the right school, but after many months, I have chose the school, and I am now preparing to go. The awesome thing about the school, and company I chose ,is I am an hour and a half from the school. Having an ADHD child at home, and a pregnant wife, it works better for us until we get his meds regulated. What company am I going with? PAM Transport. I go for my physical August 18, and start school August 25. No team driving after my 6 weeks with my trainer, and a $1200 sign on bonus. I am super excited, and will add to this log as time goes along

The long road to school

Woud love to swap stories.Best of luck to you

Please do Tracy, I have also recently signed up, what a chore picking a good school! I am 48 yrs old. divorced and kids are hitting college. definite contrast in our circumstances, very awesome that you will be close to your family! After much reading (Glass door, Indeed, and of course here) I applied and was accepted to Celedon, Pam, and Roehl I'll be leaving on august 24th for a twelve hour drive from New York to Wisconsin to go to Roehl Trucking myself for my training. Perhaps we can share our stories here together for others to compare...

160 Driving Academy

Have an appointment August 31

This is a illinois based C.D.L. Training School, 40 hours classroom, 120 hours yard and road driving. There are no drinking and drugs here, everything is "hands on". In about 4 weeks, anyone wanting to obtain their C.D.L., and lives in the state of illinois, give this school a call for the nearest one.

CDL permit test

I passed my CDL permit test today!!!! I take my DOT physical August 5th. After much thought, and research into my finances, I have decided I am going to go with Swift Transport, and to go with them, I have to take my CDL permit, and physical before I go. SO!!!!! One hurdle down, one to go!!! My anticipated start date with Swift is August 11. Thank you High road Training Program, and I am glad the program was put on here, because it is a help. If you don't use the program, when it is free to use to prepare, that is your fault!!! dancing.gifdancing-dog.gifdancing-dog.gifdancing-banana.gifdancing-banana.gif

Thinking about starting my CDL training with PAM transport

Is the company great to work for? I know their training perks sound good. Yes I have to pay a little up front, but, for what I have to pay, it is almost like they are reimbursing me. I like the $1200 sign on bonus. Is there forced dispatch? Are they good about getting you home?
