How to contact owner operator drivers
Maybe you could try Craigslist or Facebook and place your ad there. They have different books at the truck stops about Owner/Operator opportunities that may have a place to advertise in.

I think the idea of giving up the apartment and spending home time with family makes sense instead of shelling out $400 for not being there. If you could, maybe you could find somewhere you could negotiate with the landlord for lower payments due to your absence.

Hey RedGator, the reason abortion and trucking are together at Covenant is because the owner is Christian. However, due to some of his comments at orientation, I find that hard to believe. Some of the chaplains at Transport for Christ doen't believe the company is very Christian either. You"ll see other companies expessing their Christian beliefs on their trailers as well, so Covenant isn't the only one. BTW, Covenant stands for the pact with God that the company or the owner has with God. However, if he is willing to take money away from the drivers, this is not Christian like. He seems to forget that God will provide if you ask him to. I could go on, but I think I'll stop there.

The website tells you about the person's personal hygene habits as well. Someone at Covenant should have told you about that as part of the information you would receive. The biggest problem with Covenant Transport is they have very few people who can actually drive as team drivers. Too many drivers have gone out and come back being dissatisfied with their team drivers. I have found Covenant drivers are too selfish and think only of themselves and not how to operate as a team. After trying this 6 times I gave up and requested to drive Solo so I don't loes my sanity from everyone telling me I can't drive. I have 2 months experience/39,000 miles with C. R. England and nobody at Covenant wants to take me seriously. I now have over 11,000 miles as a Solo driver and give anyone who thinks I should go back to driving school the finger. Michael Keller-Covenant Transport driver.
I just got off of the phone with a Covenant recruiter. I discussed the fact that Covenant will pair you up for team driving. Gotta be able to pull doubles for some account and have HAZMAT. I asked about solo positions, and they just don't have many of those positions. Most is team driving. You go onto the website and fill out a survey to pair you up with someone similar. What I have an issue with is regardless of the other driver's music tastes and such, are really the things that matter like professionalism, safety, pulling their own weight, hygeine, etc. Those things matter far more than smoking and music. I'm feeling skeptical at the moment.

Team or Solo as a rookie?
Gunner, I have heard its better to go team for a few months to learn what you can from a veteran and then decide if you would like to go it alone from there. Most of the people I have talked to said its easier to make mistakes with someone who has a few years to their credit instead being alone and not knowing what to do. I thought I would pass that along.
