Surgery question

I have surgery tommorrow to repair a hernia so I can begin school in July. I'm sure I will be given pain pills for the pain. I am going to try not to take them but if the pain is too much and I do have to take them how does that work with an upcoming drug test? Would I have to keep my prescription fron my doc or have him sign off on something? All comments are greatly appreciated.

Medical Question

I have hernia surgery scheduled the last week of this month. The last week of July I plan on attending a local truck driving school or possibly trying to get on with prime and go through their school. My question is will I still be able to get my dot medical card with having a sugury that recent? I just want to make sure this doesn't cause any problems. The hernia itself isn't causing me problems I just know I wouldn't be able to pass my physical.

Trouble finding a trucking school that will take me because of misdemeanor charges can anyone help?

I would definitely take old scools advice and try a private school. I know the schools in my hometown do 100 percent fiancing and have a 100 percent job placement rate with companies that offer tution reimbursement. You can see how many pre-hires you can get before you even start school! I too have a misdemeanor on my record (drug paraphernalia) that will be expunged in August. I have wanted to get into the industry for awhile now but this also has always been a big problem for me. Is there anyone else that cold help Ron out?

Is a close terminal important?

Werner allows me to take my truck and trailer home with me or allows me to bobtail if there are no empty trailers available.

If I could bobtail then I know I could park it at the house. That would be the best for me. Thanks guy!

Companies normally will let you take the truck home if you live more than 50 miles from any terminal or drop yard. That number can vary, but they understand that nobody wants to drive for a living and then spend 1/3 of their home time commuting back and forth to the terminal.

That would be so perfect! It will definitely be a question I ask the recruiter. Thanks Brett!

Yeah I could almost park it at the old home place. There is a mom and pops gas station down the road a bit and there's always trucks parked there for a few days then they are gone. I assume I would be pulling an empty trailer?

Werner has several drop yards in Tennessee. The main one is in West Memphis Ark. Basically Memphis. There is one in Nashville. Now both of these are drop yards and not terminals. But driver Park their trucks there while on hometime.

I'm exactly 3 hours away from Nashville. I don't guess that would be too bad considering you wouldn't come home but a few times a month. Thanks Guy.

Thanks for the reply guys. There was an ad in the local newspaper about them and that's why I really looked into it. At first I just overlooked it because there wasn't a terminal in state but if they are hiring in Tennessee then surely they wouldn't make you drive so far. Does anyone know the drop yards for Werner in Tennessee? I'm going to call a recruiter soon but I would like to get my ducks in a row first.
