I'm a natural born driver. Drove OTR dry van and curtain van from 2005-2008 but had some medical issues and had to stay home I have maintained my Class A CDL and drove school bus until 2012. I quit and went to tech school but the road is calling to me once again.

Caffeine Pills vs Energy Drinks vs Coffee / Tea

This may seem odd but when I had to drive nights I would buy an energy drink and basically sip it through out the night. Always had water or another drink as well as to not drink it for thirst alone. I'd have a few sips wait a while have some more ect. This kept me from frequent pee stops, I. Avoided the rush/crash cycle (pills or chugging it) and when it was time for bed even if some unforseen event shut me down early I could still get to sleep. This worked for me I could stay alert and self regulate the caffeine and fluid intake. Hope that helps,

Cooking in the cab.

Get a good inverter to convert the power so you can plug in things. My must have list is a slowcooker that has the locking lid a George forman grill and microwave. And of course some kind of fridge freezer or cooler. The lunch ovens are good to. You can buy foil bread pans as inserts set up casseroles in them cover them and freeze them on home time then stick them in the fridge. Pop it in the oven in the am and let it thaw and cook most the day and poof home cooked meal. Same goes for the slow cooker get gallon size ziplocks and put everything for a meal in the bags and freeze these will thaw some in the frige but if they start frozen they last longer. Then you just dump into the slow cooker in the morning and let it go all day. This is cheap quick and easy. And a Forman grill should be self explanatory: ). One valuable piece of advice. ...don't forget the can opener!

I miss my truck....help!

Thanks mountain girl.

I'm in Oregon but there's nothing holding me here. I want OTR I perfer anything I don't have to tarp. I have driven curtain van and can strap but tarping is not feasible for me. I don't wanna go through a private school if I can help it. I'm hoping to get a company that will throw me out with a trainer then let me go solo again.

I miss my truck....help!

I started driving truck back in 2005 I blew through driving school I was just born to drive I guess. I just got in and started driving graduated a week and a half early but anyway I had some medical issues in 2008 and needed to get off the road I drove school bus untill 2012 then stopped and went to tech school i have maintained and sill have my class A cdl. I can't resist the itch any longer the road is calling me ... I know I will have to refresh but would like to avoid full on school. Any suggestions? Good companies that might refresh me rather then full on retraining? (I really rather a midsize company no giants lol)
