Feeling sick

So I finally got a trainer today, and I will be leaving tomorrow morning, but now that I finally HAVE the trainer I feel sick to my stomach and there is a whirlwind of emotions going on...fear, sadness, excitement, etc. I hope these feelings go away after a day or so on the road.

The cabover truck

What happened to it? I get the impression that it was common a long time ago but now it seems rather non existent. I always thought that I would like driving one of those...Something about being up against the window like that is appealing.

Engine/break question

Lol, the worst I have done so far is stall the truck but last time I saved it by pushing in the clutch last moment.

In regards to my question I only remember someone saying something about breaking wrong or "dropping the engine".....or something like that.

Engine/break question

So today on the training pad we where learning to do the ally dock while some other PSD students where doing some practicing in preparation for the CDL test. Out of nowhere we heard this loud squeal of sorts that caused the instructor to say "did he just do what I think he did?" And ran over and just stared at the truck the noise came from.....even had the PSD trainer go walking over...I never fully got what happened but I guess it was something that can kill an engine? I just know it made our instructor practically crap bricks.

I will be going to prime.

Any tips on what I should do before going and while there?

Get your permit before you show up because trying to get your permit while their is just one giant stress best left for BEFORE you roll into prime.

While there pay attention, I learned that they hate answering questions that have already been discussed or could have been answered by actually reading the papers they give you at the beginning.

Also be early to everything you have to do ! Trust me when I tell you that they are paying attention to this, on time is late and early is on time. Your entire time here is one giant interview.

I forgot to thank you

So this website has proven to be an incredible source of help and motivation as I begin this nerve racking journey into trucking. I passed all my tests for my permit last week including getting my tanker endorsement, and I used nothing but the High Road Program! I also have felt like I have been ahead of the game in regards to what to expect while I'm here with Prime.

I just arrived in Springfield today my roommate said his class that started last week had 20 people that needed trainers and as of today they are waiting on 7. So far it looks pretty decent but I too will be keeping tabs as I go through the week.

What is your roommates name?
