I finished the refresher course about a little over a month ago. It's a joke in all honesty. You practice doing a 90 a few times and some street driving. About 3 hours behind the wheel for the 2 day and 5 hours for the 5 day. They have entirely way to many people in the classes. Ranging from 15-25. With one instructor for the 90 and one for the road. And you sign a year contract for the class 2 or 5 day both. Then you play the sit and wait game 2 day people will probably be there a total of a week and a half waiting to go out with a trainer and the 5 day people will be there a minimum of 2 and a half weeks. (From what I've seen.) They are like any other company linked to a school too many people to teach and train and not enough trucks or trainers to accomondate. The pay is the kicker 29cpm go the first year as a 2 day and 5 day. But through the 5 day persons training they are also required to drive 10,000 miles with a trainer at 18cpm only paid for what you drive. Average about 300-350 a week, if there are no issues. I'm OK with that part my issue was they do not pay layover pay or breakdown pay. Didn't get a load last week and broken down this week still waiting on parts. I likely won't get paid for 2 weeks due to this. I only need 2 weeks to complete training, but I am considering going to another company that has taken into account my time with celadon and will only have me training another 2 weeks. I'm not a company basher by far, but celadon has grown to fast to contain it's issues and has not yet caught up. If you come in not needing a refresher you should be ok, but I can not speak from experience on that. Also make sure to double check your pick up and delivery times with the shipper/receiver it will save you a headache or 2. And if you have issues only talk with weekday shift DMs they are the only ones that seem consistent. Celdon seems like a good company just has a lot of growing pains, and doesn't value their trainees enough to feed them.
