DMV Permit test

My tests were definitely timed. You must answer a question within 4 minutes or it will time out, something about failing the test if you don't answer all questions asked. You can skip it but it will be at the end. If you miss it, it will show you the correct answer on screen. They do not give you a print out of the test, its all computerized now so if you fail a test section, you will just have to try and remember what you had trouble with and study. Miss 8 questions, you're done. The dmv clerk told me that they consider anyone using another's old test to study with "cheating" I called that a "study guide" in college... Really, what is the difference in any similar test taking practice?

Is" You Tube" good for Trucking?

Hey Phil, One thing that I have noticed with the YouTubers is that many are opting for leasing and automatic transmissions. As a newb, neither of those interest me. Other than that, you're right about Allie Knight being one of the new positive & interesting truckers. It also seems that a lot of Canadian truckers are making videos. Just lonely or money savvy? LOL

DMV Permit test

I took the CA DMV CDL (class A) permit tests last week and yes, they are so very close. My one tip is that if you didn't really understand Combos (coupling & uncoupling), go over that section again. You must pass Gen Knowledge, Air Brakes, and Combos for your CDL. The others are Tankers, Triples & Doubles, and Hazmat. If you truly understand the steps, parts, actions required then you will be solid. This site has a quicker quizzing section than going through it page by page, maybe someone else can post a link. Just search cdl practice tests on here. Make sure you are passing them at or near 100 and then make your appointment. Yes, you need an appointment for testing now, at least at our local DMV. The 7th test is for your class C renewal, I had to take that one too. Good luck.

Is" You Tube" good for Trucking?

Maybe men don't get the negative reactions as ferociously as we women do when we tell our family & friends that we want to get our CDL to drive a semi. YouTube has video of some rather normal, fun & interesting people that disprove the myths of only creepy truckers who are on drugs, womanizers, racist, or are barely running legal. It's a skilled job for a traveling mindset that either love it or hate it. Imho it is definitely helping the industry's image.

One added benefit to all those truckers with YouTube Channels is that they're making extra money by getting lots of viewers and subscribers/faithful followers.

Start school on monday

Nice to know. So Cal.

Apparently Celadon is not hiring from here right now, as well as some other trucking companies.

Good luck to you!

Would mind explaining the process of contacting Celadon and how long it took to get to this point? Did you call them (and who) or did they call you after applying somewhere? Thanks!

Day 5 Swift Driving Academy Dallas Texas December 2014 Failed Combos 2nd time. :(

Hey Pepper, I failed my Combo on Tues but passed easily today. Did you already pass that section by now? If not, here is my two cents: besides going over the High Road Training on here repeatedly and taking the Combo quizzes repeatedly, what I did was to tear out just the Combination section of our CA DMV manual and go through it line by line. I underlined, circled, starred key words and phrases. Then I looked up pics of the red 8-sided knob because I was not able to visualize it or the whole process of coupling & uncoupling without breaking it all down and VISAULIZING it. Only then did all the steps and parts make sense. Best of luck to you! Mal
