Max age to start a trucking career?
Hey Steven join the club! I'm 61 and just start school with Roadmaster. I'm doing the training on weekends because I'm still working my 35 years job in IT. So far it has been great! I find myself thinking about driving all the time! Good luck!

I am to old to become a truck driver.
Hey, I'm 61 and starting training in a few days with Roadmaster. And it is because of TT giving me support to follow my dream! I feel excited and looking forward to the new adventure, like I was 20 again! Don't let age stop you from doing anything.

Will companies hire beginner drivers in their early 60's?
Hi all! Just wanted to update TT forum on my progress in becoming a truck driver. I have decided to go to RoadMaster for my training. I will be going on weekend school so I can still work my current job. Back in December I passed the 3 test at the DMV to get my Temporary CDL class A license. This past weekend I took my 3 endorsements that RoadMaster suggested that I obtain, doubles & triples, tankers and Hazardous materials. Ready to start my training on Feb 14.
I have really enjoy reading this forum and learning more and more about truck driving! Brett's book was really interesting and some chapters made me think twice about becoming a truck driver. But his last chapter said it all for me and I'm all in giving this new career a go. Wish me luck!
Any feed back on anybody that has gone though school or knows someone that has with RoadMaster would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Charlie

Thanks for all the replies! Didn't know there was IT guys out there driving trucks. Great to hear all the positive comments and Attila said it all about the IT industry.
I'm looking at Roadmaster because they offer weekend training for CDL. I haven't found a company sponsor training that offers weekends. I'm still working my IT job.
I love new challenges. Just 4 years ago I got my motorcycle endorsement and now I love riding my Goldwing on trips. I never want to wonder what it would be like doing something.
Hope to see you all on the road someday.

I'm looking to change career after 35 years in the hardware computer industry. Just need a change and a challenge, trucking driving would defiantly wound offer this. But my age concerns me, even though I'm in good health, very active and don't see any restrictions (felony, bad driving records, etc.) that would work against me.
I'm meeting with RoadMaster Trucking School this week. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks, Charlie
