Tonegone I drive for Melton currently. They are a great company with a VERY supportive staff. I have felt nothing but positive things from everyone connected with Melton. Even the other drivers are very helpful and we feel as though we are a brotherhood. To correct a few points we drive kenworth t660 and 680's. They all have double bunks. There are a few freightliners with auto trans but all the rest are 10 speeds. The equipment is well maintained. The delivery schedules are based on 50 mph legal road plans and more often than not you can easily deliver early which allows you to make more money. If you are a hard worker this is a GREAT company. We have 48&53 ft flatbeds. We do haul Hazmat if you are endorsed and get 6 cpm for it. Also 6cpm for Canada runs and 8 cpm extra for oversize loads. Melton pays for showers if you don't have one on a rewards card(rare).

Hey Redknight two guys from my school are driving for NFI on their Trader Joes accounts. They both like what they are doing and are say they make $1100 to 1200 a week. They have been there 6 months and are dispatched from the Nazareth area. The only concern is that the Major Medical is VERY expensive. I have considered going with them and if my wifes benefit package changes I might be there myself. Good Luck!

Hey Fatsquatch that wreck happened a few miles from my home in the Pocono Mtns of Pa. That Hill has claimed quite a few rigs and has made the owner of a local heavy wrecker company a rich man. I'm a newbie and will always have that hill and ones like it on the back of my mind.

I want to THANK Brett for this excellent site and all the truckers and potential truckers that contribute. I passed my CDL school today and I am now headed to Melton next week. The CDL training materials helped a lot in the beginning. I have gained immeasurable insight and knowledge from the guys and gals that take valuable time from their days to blog their experiences. I hope to one day be able to impart some of my experiences on this site. Once again THANK YOU !!!

I will be starting my driving career in February and want to drive flatbed. I was offered to drive for a glass division of a major flatbed company. It is OTR 14-21 days out. Question is what are the details about running glass? Anyone with experience? The money sounds very good. Thanks guys and gals for any responses.

Recently spoke to a recruiter with a major carrier and he said ALL their trucks are auto. I was wondering your opinions of driving an auto trans. Things like MPG, downshifting for downhills, power on accel etc etc.
