Kids are grown, Love my job but it is time for changes. It is a dead end job, I am temp. When I spoke with the driver, he asked why I didn't get my cdl, I didn't have a good answer. Next week, I studied and got my permit.
Dad was a trucker, spent many a nights in the truck with him. Grew up wanting to drive but ended up having a family. I always turn when I here the sound and blood starts pumping when I smell the fuel.
I quit my job. Decided to go with Knight, I am scheduled to go beginning of next month. Nerves are fraying. I have been dreaming of this for 30 years. It is time for me.
Wish me luck.

Best paid training ..opininons?
This site is a wealth of knowledge. I studied and spoke with various recruiters. Personally, I choose knights after it am hired and while training, I will be paid $400 per week, they pay for the bus ticket, hotel room and breakfast is provided at the hotel. I will know more on Tuesday when I get back there. Due to where I live, I was limited but I am very excited about my choice.

I'm trying to stay positive but...
I understand I called my old boss as soon as I found out that I was going home, she requested that I stay for a month to help with transition of my replacement, seemed like a small price to pay for being allowed to return. My recruiter mentioned that she would have to talk to safety to see how to proceed, which is where I got the impression that they would be willing to work with me if I needed a machine. I got a 2 on the questions that I gad to send in with the machine. She said that there were times it has taken almost 10 days to get the results back, when did you send yours in? Hope this helps.

I'm trying to stay positive but...
I sent my machine two Fridays ago and got the call the following Wednesday or Thursday of last week, they said they usually don't get them back that fast. It was nerve wrecking. After my recruiter got the results, then she called my employer for employment verification before she called me. The lab also called me with the results I got the impression that if my number was too high I may need a machine it was still be possible. It will work out.

I am hired
I passed my physical, yes. I was so excited. This week, I picked up where I left off last month. We did Smith training, which is very interesting and helpful in thinking about safety. On Friday, we worked on the pre trip. They remind us that it is an accelerated program and that we will be testing in two weeks. I have been working on memorizing the pre trip today and tomorrow since they expect us to know it on Monday. If I fail the test in two weeks, I will be brought back for one more week then retake the test. I can't wait to get some time behind the wheel.
After that I will be out with a trainer for about 4 weeks then solo for 30k miles, come back to Knight and do a test to be off probation and truly a knight employee.
All in all, everything that I have heard from other drivers us that it is a great place to work.
