Roehl 1-3 weeks with instructor then they let you loose. I just feel like I have a better chance of safety , longevity and overall just a better professional with the 40,000 mile training.
Roehl is four week in the Roehl School and then 2 weeks with a trainer OTR. After that you go solo but you will keep for 45 days a "Training Dispatcher" for extra hand-holding. Roehl pays from day 1 you enter the school a salary. The school end with your CDL exam; the time with the trainer ends with a route test conducted by a Roehl Instructor. Yes, the program is hard work, but 100s of people make it thru every year and become successful, safe drivers.
I did the school in January; nothing holds me back to fully recommend them, to any new driver.

Thank you for all the Roehl school diaries here on the website. These diaries were the main source of information which I used to make my own decision to select a starting point into this industry.
I started Jan 10th in the Roehl school with only a CDL learner permit. Today I have a CDL and finished a 2 week period with an OTR trainer and "Tested out" at their Appleton facility. Officially I am now allowed to drive an 18-wheeler by permit of the Government (CDL-a) and by standard of Roehl - today proven by the test in the "Test Out".
The Roehl experience has been Triple-A. It is fast paced and taught by industry professionals who have only one goal, and that is to help you over the finish line as a successful driver.
