First day of orientation was today..

no problems besides i payed the doc 140 for a dot physical on Thursday and today the company made me take another using their docs. no biggie i passed.. only one other guy in training with me everyone in the company introduced them selves and were very accommodating. I am super excited to have the chance to work for a company that treats me like a person and not a number. alot of paperwork and videos to finish tomorrow and then Wednesday i get behind the wheel. I was as nervous as a kid on the first day of school for about 2 minutes but when the big bosses come in to meet you and genuinely want to know how you are it took all the nerves away, also truckingtruth has given me a leg up even though im a newb this site has given me alot of useful info and i wanted to say thanks to all who have posted blogged and especially to the admins for making this site possible. so thank you and im sure you will be hearing more from me in the following days. Stay safe and keep the rubber on the road!!

Honestly im not sure. i called the owner of the company told him my story and i guess i found a perfect storm because he said they usually wouldnt do anything like this till spring but they have a trainer and a good local route available so we will give it a shot. the biggest thing is i was upfront about my situation what i wanted to do and how i wanted to do it. Also i reserched the company and knew what to say and not to say. Bottom line i was prepared to either get a job or be led down the right path to get a job

With full understanding that it is the drivers responsibility to be in compliance regarding rules and regulations, If you pick up a load from the shipper trailer is loaded and ready to go your job is to back up hook up and deliver it to its destination. halfway through the trip a weigh station says you are overweight. Why should the driver suffer? he did not load it he was just doing his job. I am sure this has been covered but i am new to the site and the industry so any insight and knowledge i can gain would be useful

hello i have been reading on this site for a couple weeks. today i passed my cdl permit with a 96%. ten minutes later i had a job with a local trucking company. orientation isnt untill the 15th but i dont think i have been this excited in my lfe. the best part is unlike alot of the horror stories i have seen my training will be m-f 7am to 4 pm off on weekends. they are gonna keep me local and mostly rural for the first six weeks so i wont have to sleep in a truck with some smelly dude i dont know just 8 hours a day or so.
