I'm a good candidate for school, except for my credit score.
I wouldn't worry about it. I have a pretty bad credit score and am on my way to Prime training right now. My credit is bad because of massive student loans. There was even a private school that accepted me and guaranteed I wouldn't have a problem getting the loan for their program. They don't provide housing though, so it wasn't a viable option for me. Prime did run a hard credit check on me however, so I guess it's possible to be turned down under certain circumstances; if not, I can't imagine why they would devote the resources to running it at all.

There seems to be some issues with some of the questions on the High Road Training program. The question about what to do when you lose sight of your spotter has the wrong answer. I choose "stop and get out" which is correct, it even says it in the explanation but the program marked it as wrong and said that the "keep backing slowly" answer is correct. I thought that some of the questions in earlier marked me wrong for what I thought was the correct answer but this one is certainly wrong. Not complaining, just thought you would want to know. Your sight is awesome and I appreciate the interactive training program. On bus in route to Prime in Springfield. Is it safe to assume that if I can make it through the High Road Training, I should be well prepared for the CDL permit test at the DMV?

Advancement opportunities in the trucking industry?
So I am leaving tomorrow for Prime training in MO. I may be getting a little ahead of myself here, but I am very curious about the opportunities for advancement in the trucking industry. As with pretty much anything I research online, there is very conflicting information. I have read that most truck drivers are not interested in an office job, but what about the ones who are? I have a MBA from the University of Phoenix. Do truck drivers sometimes advance into management positions? I assume that having experience on the road would be a big plus for anyone applying for office/ management positions, especially if they are already working for the company they are applying to. Anyone have any insight on this matter?

Leaving for Prime training Saturday, some questions
Yes, I will be starting on the 15th. Looks like I'll see you there Brent & Chance. I don't have my permit yet. I thought about trying it in NC but I heard I would have to transfer it to MO anyhow so since $ is tight I didn't want to spend more than necessary.

Leaving for Prime training Saturday, some questions
Hello everyone, I am leaving Saturday for Missouri to train at Prime Inc. I am very dedicated and made it through grad school so I'd like to think I am no moron, however I feel like one when studying the pre-trip inspection requirements. There is just so many things that need to be inspected. I understand the reasoning for this and was just wondering how you all managed to learn and remember all of the different parts of the truck to inspect. Will the pre-trip inspection requirements be on the permit test? Will my trainer conduct a pre-trip each day so the procedure will become familiar to me? Any other pointers are welcome, especially regarding studying the materials and what I can do to ensure success at testing and training in general.

Accepted to Prime training school, question about Hazmat
Thank you Matthew, perhaps I'll see you there. Unfortunately cost is something of an issue for me. Do you know if it would be costlier in the long run to get my permit in NC and then have to transfer it to MO versus testing for it in MO? Also, I wonder if the tests would be similar in both states or significantly more difficult in one than the other. I am somewhat concerned about having to transfer my license to a MO license in order to get my CDL. How does that even work regarding residency? What will my address on my license be, Prime headquarters? Will my motorcycle endorsement transfer to my MO license? Will I be able to transfer my license and CDL back to NC after completing training without having to take a road test again in NC? I got an e-mail with my orientation on it from prime three days ago when I was accepted and the recruiter told me when I would be leaving and arriving but the bus info portion with the ticket confirmation number and other travel info of my packet was left blank. I wonder if they will send me that info this week or if it was mistakenly left blank because it says "See you at orientation".
Also, will there be any problem with my vehicles registered in NC and my insurance after getting a MO license?

Thank you everyone. So even though I live in NC, I should get my permit before I leave? Will I have to get a Missouri permit when I get there or just test for the Missouri CDL? Also, I am assuming that you have to pay for the High Road Training Program on here?

Getting Paid - for real?
Is Primes pay information accurate. It clearly states that during company training after you get your CDL you will be guaranteed $700 a week and when you get on your own it says 38c per mile, 42c for their lightweight fleet. Why would you get paid more to run a lightweight truck? Do they lack that the larger tractors have besides space? Do they pull smaller trailers?
