I will say to anyone reading that hasn't started driving solo, get some basic tools to keep in your truck! I have been holding off buying too much because I wouldn't be able to deduct them in 2014. Lucky for me I have found some very helpful drivers to help me out, but I will be going to the hardware store this weekend! Having my own tools wouldn't have helped me today because I can't get into my side box without my keys, but there have been other things come up that I can see where they are handy....maybe just to help another driver!
Hey, Gals... I am just starting driving school... looking for all good advice. Can you be specific about which tools you would want to have with you? Any special equipment? All advice is gratefully accepted. Thanks.

Best of Luck, Lil! Please let me know how you like Prime, OK? I just got my learner's permit - starting driver training on Monday! I need to get trained up and into a really good company ASAP. I'd love to hear your experience with them. Thanks!

The good, the bad, and the ugly about women in trucking
I just passed my general knowledge, air brakes, and combinations tests yesterday to get my commercial permit! I don't think it is possible to be more of a newbie than I am! lol Next Tuesday I'm going back to DMV to get my tanker, doubles/triples, and hazmat endorsements added. I am also curious about which are the best companies for a new CDL student to go for? I want to be a company driver for at least a year before I consider anything else. I am also open to driving as a team, though I don't currently know anyone who I would be willing to live 24/7 with in a box. I spent last year in chemo and radiation for breast cancer, which wiped me out financially. I need to get a really good driving job. Any and all information is greatly appreciated!

Transgender Women In Trucking (Please don't laugh...not a joke)
Is this really asking for BETTER treatment? It seems like you are saying '98% of men will always treat anyone who isn't male as a second class citizen. It is 2015, and this is no longer acceptable behavior (if it ever was.) Just because the boys have 'always acted a certain way,' doesn't make it right, and the only way to change that is to keep shining a light on its inappropriateness, and exemplify a better way to do things. I'm going to throw this back to YOU: Are you settling for being treated as a second class citizen, just because you're a straight woman? Why aren't you asking to be treated BETTER? Not 'Better than...' - just better. Just sayin'. I'm always wishing you well.
