So as I have read on here it's best to apply to more that one school to have more than one option. So I applied at Prime Inc & I applied at Swift Transportation today. The recruiter at swift tells me that because I live in Louisiana they have a dedication account with dollar Tree. You travel to like 5 states & are home for your 34 hour reset. She tells me it pays .33 cent per mile with $135 for the trailer being emptied. & $10 for each stop you make. She claims drivers on this account usually average around $1000 a week. She says you have to unload the truck by hand so there is physical labor. So I was wondering what do you guys think? Any of you guys ever here anything or experienced an account like this? Just trying to get a heads up on what I might be getting in to. I'm only 21 & I personally don't mind a little manual labor. I'm not in shape (285 lbs) so I figure this would be a good work out for me.

Although this is an older post. But I can give some info on this Dollar tree account. I work on the dedicated account in Southern California. I am not with swift, I am a Werner driver. Because swift did not have enough drivers to run the account. Werner came in. and slowly taking over the account. There have been lots going on within the swift drivers and the Stores. Complaining that the drivers are always late and Don't do their job like its suppose to be done, Swift drivers damaging property while backing, hitting walls and other objects. Swift does not like the fact that werner drivers are there and there has been so much tension between werner and swift drivers. I'm always asked by swift drivers. "So how much longer are you guys suppose to be here? You were suppose to be gone after the Holidays?" None of the swift drivers know that they are the ones that have to leave soon, which may be around summer time,or as soon as Werner gets enough drivers to push swift out. The pay for swift is about right, 33cpm plus $110 per trailer emptied and $10 for each stop, You will do between 2 and 4 stops per trailer. Werner pays. $155 per emptied and .45cpm. You will not always be doing 5 trailers per week, Its almost impossible. unless you do local runs, however. Local runs means less miles per week but more unload pay. Here is another thing to consider. When I was told We would be running CA,AZ,NV,NM,UT. I thought I would be running those 5 states. The only 2 states I run is Ca,and AZ. I asked why cant we get runs to the other states. Both swift and Werner made a rule, southern California drivers will only do loads for CA,and AZ because its closer to your home town. so anyone who lives in UT, would run the UT and NV states. because you are home on the weekends. Here is the reason why, You spend more time unloading then you do driving. You will pull 14 hour days. It can take a total of 11 hours combined of unloading time. with only 2 hours of drive time, Depending on which routes you have for the day.That is why you are home on the weekends because you need that restart every weekend. This is a perfect place to lose weight, Backing is very challenging, Most stores do not have docks. you back into double doors and lots of tight backing with very few space to play around with. You will run into a lot of stores that are not built to fit a 53' trailer in. But you have to get it in. This dedicated account is definitely not for a new driver. very few drivers will make $1,600 a week. but that is ball busting work. So just know when swift said "$1,000 per week on average" You will be lucky if you have hit that 1,000 mark with swift. There is alot to think about before getting onto this account.
