I live in a small town in a valley hidden in the mountains of Virginia. I was born in Colorado and grew up in Florida. I'm 21 and I married my husband in 2014. We have no kids.
The reason nothing I say is about trucks is because I'm just starting out. Im determined that I'm gonna get my cdl and I'm gonna be a trucker!
Right now I have to prepare myself, and I believe this is the best place to do it. :3
This will be my trucking diary as I go through the journey. This is the first entry :3

Prime is a no go. (for me at least)
Deonte, Prime told me today that two out of the last three years has to have verifiable work history that you paid taxes with. Meaning an actual job, not under the table. So as long as you've been working somewhere for two years, you should be set :3
Everyone I really appreciate the inspiration you guys are giving me :3 my back up is Knight. My only problem like I said is I really need somewhere that has a pet policy.
I'm gonna go back to the start and look around everywhere. I'm gonna reevaluate what I can do. Thank you guys so much I can't even begin to say how much it means to me. It takes a lot for me to stay on something when I get discouraged, but you guys are helping me work through it all.
Safe miles!!

TT.TT
I love you guys. Lol. I want so bad to do this I really do. I've been studying really hard, and I've been super hopeful about this.
It just busted me down a notch or two to be rejected. But you're all very right. I just need to buck up and do it. If something happens once I get there, at least i did my all. So, back to the drawing board.
I am still broke lol, so i need a company that has a cheap-to-free training program. I also really, really, REALLY, would like to have a pet policy. I've had some past issues with anxiety/depression, and i'm not sure i could sanely handle being on the road so much without a traveling companion beside me.
So, price and pet, that's the only 2 things i desperately need. Time to dig >:3
I love you guys so much >w<

I don't have any kids, but right now I'm technically working for my grandmother, doing yard work and the such.
Prime requires you have 2 of the last 3 years, of a taxable job, or whatever. Meaning an actual job.... That pays taxes.
*tch* As far as I'm concerned, my dream dies here. I'm seriously just ****ed.
I just.. idk. I really appreciate this website, and all of the people on here. The High Road Training program is amazing, all of the helpful people are just so awesome. But, this is as far as I can take it.
Just let me call up Taco Bell and see what they say....
Good Miles to all.

Prime is a no go. (for me at least)
So I talked to a recruiter for Prime again.
He kinda pretty much told me to go work for Taco Bell for two years >.>
I have a spotty job history, where I am only 21. Apparently you have to of had a job for 2 of the last 3 years to work for Prime.
This kind of blind-sided me, not sure if it was because it wasn't posted anywhere or what, but, either way it caught me off guard and kind of broke my spirit and will to continue trying.
So, 9/12 i worked for a grocery store until 8/13. Since then the only job i had was at Walmart, for 3 weeks this last March. The job didn't last because I didn't have reliable transportation to and from work. (it's 30 miles from where i live).
My husband has been the one supporting us so it wasn't really necessary for me to work. Yeah yeah, say what you will about that. I live in a tiny town in the middle of nowhere, as I've said many times. Job opportunities aren't available even if I wanted one.
So, I guess if you know a company that doesn't require such a stringent work history, let me know. I'm pretty bummed out about this, so please refrain from any smart-alecky replies.
Thanks guys, be safe...

What I heard on the shuttle bus today (Use the High Road program properly!)
You know I'm actually very happy to see this post. I am hoping to get on with Prime, and I've been using the high road program rigorously, although I have to say I've slacked quite a bit lately.
You've reminded me how important it is at just the right time. I think I will get my permit before going. See, I am also a young female, and if I want people to take me seriously, I need to take it seriously.
I don't plan on making this a life long career, and while it might not turn out that way, it doesn't matter. Even if I hope to do trucking only long enough to buy a house, I need to take it seriously, not only because its dangerous, but its hard and on the road I'll be responsible for not only my safety but everyone else's too.
Thank you The Dude. You've reminded me that even if I want to do it asap, I need to really apply myself.
Be safe all!!!

How do I keep clean while on the road?

Back to CDL preparations!!!! Prime?!
Yeah I just called a recruiter today and they told me about the fees.
I'm wanting to get my permit first but either way I'll get it since its not required before going, so I'm not too worried about it. I am however study hard for it either way.
Thanks you guys, good miles to all!

Ah see I knew it was something like that. Personally I am the kind of person to stock up on everything lol so the few times I could go to a Walmart I'd just buy anything I'd need for a good long while lol.
Also, my personal preference is having a sink to brush my teeth, i do why haha.

Well I'm just starting to prepare myself lol, but I'm pretty sure someone had told me about truck places having showers and different ways of paying for it, possibly a rewards card, or no, I think there's a way to earn tokens from getting gas. O.o
I'm not entirely sure, bit look a forum up on the tabs page possibly, I remember seeing a thread about it on here before :3 Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
Be safe!!

Work history problems
I very recently had the same knock back from Prime. Don't get me wrong, if it works for you and everything, prime would be my dream company. A ton of people assured me, and they are right, that many other places don't require such an extensive work history.
I spent quite a bit of my time after getting my g.e.d. bumming around and state hopping, so I don't have a good job history, it's almost nonexistent in fact. (Keep in mind i m only 21, been outta school for 3 years) if I'd spent the whole time working I'd be set, but life's messy and it doesn't work out like that.
For me, I am now looking at a local private school, the one in Lebanon va, and possibly US Xpress after. Every situation is different, the best thing you can do is not give up and keep searching between companies. As someone told me (thank you a million times more everyone), you can't give up, and there are plenty of other companies that would be happy to have someone like you.
This website is an amazing place. Research, research, research. Ask ask ask lol. We're all here for you.
Prime is very picky, others will be more willing, as I said in many more words above, I'm considering the private school route and then us xpress. Loans and grants for trucking are generally easier to get, rather than normal school because here is such a high demand for truckers and loan officers know this and that you get paid better, so after school, there are also lots of trucking companies that will help you pay back your loans. Us xpress for instance will pay I believe 150 a month on school loans, up to $4000. For the school I'm looking at that would leave 500 for me to pay back on my own. Great deal in my opinion.
Lovey, again, as I was recently told. Prime isn't the only company out there. Look at your other options.
<3 good miles to all!!
