Thanks guys; yes, Mainer is what we call ourselves here. Been without work for the past couple weeks, thankfully been inside while we've been getting pounded with snow. Winters are brutal up here, but this is the worst one I can remember. Anyhow, had an interview earlier today, followed by meeting up with a few terminal managers with some local trucking companies. Hopefully will find something soon.

Julius, I am a new driver as well, and only have a Class B. I was encouraged to get an A, but would not have received any training with a tractor. I was a seasonal town employee and was able to practice on the dump trucks in the yard, but the lone tractor the town owns is strictly used for trash hauling and unable to be used for practice. If you have a Class A, you can operate any Class A or B vehicle, provided you have the endorsements (if necessary). I'm not sure if you would be held to a higher standard without any experience and a Class A. I know a lot of places I have talked to around my area would not hire a Class A driver without any experience unless they had graduated from an approved trucking school. Hope that helps.

Your success is ALL about YOUR attitude!
Pat, I love that show! Totally scripted and dramatized, but entertaining nonetheless. It definitely helped pique my interest in trucking.

Hello everyone, I am new to the whole trucking thing, but found this website in my researching and found it to be a very useful tool. I currently have a Class B (got it for free by working for the town I live in) with X endorsement. Haven't had much luck finding (or holding down) a driving job as of late, and have been looking into getting my Class A. I figure why not, it's become a great interest of mine over the past year, and am always watching youtube tutorials and videos of tips and tricks about driving a semi. Just figured I'd say hello to everyone and make my presence known. I'm on the hunt for a driving job around here (I live in Maine), hopefully one that will last quite a bit and give my wife and I the funds we need to move us and our children out of state.

New driver
Thanks Carter & Tracy,
Good to see some locals on here. Been applying and making phone calls all week long. Haven't heard much yet, but still staying positive. Just running into some road blocks as I only have a Class B and just got my license at the end of October last year.
