I'd like to hear what life on the road is really like with your dog.....large dog?

I've got my 10- yr old pit bull with me. She's about 63 lbs. something to consider with a larger dog is how they will get in & out of the truck. It's quite a jump up, and jumping down they could get hurt. I got a folding pet ramp and it' s working out great.

I've thought about that. I thought I'd have to get something specially made for when they get up in years. They're pretty agile when they're younger. Where did you get your pet ramp?

No problem I plan on taking my german sheperd with me once I get all my medical clearances taken care of and am solo in a truck.

That sounds great! Please let me know what it's like and how it works out in the truck. I really miss having my girl by my side. Also, I watched Trucker Josh on You Tube besides being quite the 'clown' he makes life with the dogs look easy and very fun as I imagined it could be on the road.....don't know how it will be once that German Shepherd pup is full grown though.....his cab is awfully small!

I'm planning on becoming a trucker so I'm in the planning and dreaming stages reading all your wonderful stories and Brett's book. I lost my beautiful girl rottie after 13 wonderful years a few months ago and when I get over the feeling of not cheating on her memory, I will get another sweet beauty to fill that void like only a loyal dog companion can (dog owners get it!). I know dogs live to be with their owners and with a couple of walks-a-day, they're usually good-to-go. So any tales of experiences or words of advice you could give me?
