I don't have a problem with hard work and no touch freight is not mandatory at all for me .

The company ( dootson ) does help you find employment after graduation.

And from all the truck drivers I've just walked up to and struck up a conversation with and various locations , ( gas stations, donut shops etc) they say they were impressed with anyone they worked with whom was a dootsen grad .

And I happened to live very close to irwindale and city of industry. Which judgeing by the huge amount of trucks I see on the street I assume there are plenty of trucking jobs y be had .

I'm in the process of getting my permit and paying my own way thru training to get my cdl and ideally would like to work local and be home every or most nights Is this possible for rookie drivers . Or will I need to do o t r first in order to get experience.

Asking because as I've read in other post this industry is never what you planned and expected , but I do have a certain goal and plan .

Is this realistic to drive local as a rookie???

Please exercise , warm up and stretch makes a difference also about 5 times a day grab a pole or anything sturdy and twist to one side then the other you'll be amazed how much your back pain will ease up. But really planks ,mountain bike n and back extension s will do the best

I'm confused I was under the impression that urine is 30 day back test and hair folicle go's back 90 days . Can anyone clarify these with any certainty . Or just about or maybe this many days .

If it go's back 6 months 180 days Then this may be helpful to know but it all seems very speculative on a thing that could affect your entire truck ing career .

How do I know if I'm ready for my permit test I've been reading my ca commercial driver s dmv handbook And doing the high road training and testing and doing well on the quizes

I'm just not sure what to expect on the permit test .

My instructor said to get my permit before starting school

So I take it seat and wheel time isn't necessary for the permit test

I'm In the process of getting my medical form ( dmv form 51) completed by a physician

But please enlighten me if I need to do more or what to expect .

They gave me there info packet but it's not on there website

I'm going for my cdl at my own cost

I've taken 1 half he lesson so far and have just read bretts online book / guide ,very helpful

But before I formally enroll and go for my permit, I wanted to see what non bias opinions I get here I'm attaching the paperwork they gave me , this school seems great Its 3 miles from my house .but I know nothing about trucking so wanted to this forum to advise me

But for my medical clearance, do I even need that for my cdl permit in California? , will my general doctor do . Or does it have to be a certain one that's state approved ?
