All I can say is after reading some of this I am reassured Prime was the right choice.....here are just a couple reminders I have to share when it comes roper-trip....PMS - properly mounted and secured! Make sure every part is PMS CBB - NOT cracked bent or broken! Anything and everything that is metal or hard plastic ABC - NO abrasions bulges or cuts! Anything that is rubber or plastic Make sure if it has liquid or air flowing through it you say NOT leaking. Nail the air break test cause it is the most vital part and will auto fail you if you screw it up....otherwise talk your way through the most vital parts in each section. Backing well my friends that takes practice practice practice and patience. Remember to turn your ateering wheel toward the problem and always go slow steady and easy!!! If I everaster the backing I will share my two cents.....good luck and let's keep these wheels turning!!!!

U forgot the battery box,and battery connections and secure!

Keep in mind, this is Primes Pre-Trip Inspection. Prime doesn't have you inspect the battery box/connections during their Pre-Trip Inspection.

Unless something changed that I'm unaware of, you won't be inspection the batteries.

Every company does it slightly differently. So as you study this keep in mind that this might not be exactly what you have to memorize should you go to a different company.

I am a current psd (Prime Student Driver)and this information is word for word and same order as the Pretrip review sheet I have. This helped me tremdously since I was only comfortable and confident about th in-cab. I had never once opened the good or messed with the coupling area before my first day in Springfield with Prime, Inc! BTW I made the right choice with Prime.....lovin truckin!!!!

Another thing to add, you'll be extremely busy when you get to Prime. You'll have a million things on your mind and the stress really builds up. They don't give you many chances to get your permit and if you don't get it in the time allowed then you'll be sent back home.

Get your permit right now. Before you leave to Prime. Study in the comfort of your own home instead of a shared motel room. The folks who arrive with their permit at hand are days ahead of anyone else. Study the High Road Training Program and you'll have the knowledge to pass your tests.

Brett I work at a prison so I don't have a lot of time to get on the computer as much (16hr shifts) my goal is to complete the whole program before I leave. I love the program tho.. No bs and str8 to the point.

Hey there....I am leaving for orientation at the same time as you are and I am getting just a little nervous. I will be testing here in Ohio on Saturday morning for permit to avoid as much added stress as possible when arriving at Prime. I have complete all needed sections of the High Road Training Program except the Logbooks at this point. I have also taken several versions of the free CDL tests available online using only for the most part this training and passed them all with high if not perfect scores.

NOW for all you folks who have been there and done it with Prime, is it possible to secure my permit here and then secure my hazmat endorsement once I get to Missouri since I have not completed the required fingerprint background at the point????

I am going reefer due to my research on the downtime for flatbed vs. reefer.....which is just some basic Google search details.

I have been doing the High Road Training offered here and then taking some other practice test online which shows this training is definitely very helpful.

I have done both reefer & flatbed for Prime. My experience is that there is more downtime in reefer than flatbed if I understand your statement correctly. I can tell you that from 1st hand experience with Prime . I can say that because I did it personally.

But I will say this, when you are first getting into this industry in my opinion it is best to start on the reefer side because you are not having to learn both how to do the job, but also how to properly secure a load at the same time on the flatbed side of things. I know it can be done (Old School went straight into flatbed), but it might make things just a little easier to have just one thing to keep up with instead of a multitude of things learning what to do with just the driving/trip planning/etc.

Any questions about how it all works at Prime with reefer or flatbed, let me know. I will do my best to help if I can.

Thank you so much for chiming in here...like i said my research was strictly GTS (google that s**t) and i truly appreciate you making the clarification since I do not want to be misleading in way shape or form.

I like the advice on the training and learning curve for the flatbed side of things, think I will stick with the reefer side at least until I get some miles under my belt.

Where are you coming in from??? Will you be coming with any experience under your belt? Will you have your permit in hand when you arrive?

I am heading in from Dayton, OH planning to arrive on Sunday.......decided to skip the Greyhound ride and having a friend bring me in on

a little "road trip"! I am starting a whole new chapter in my life and leaving a career that I have been secure with for over 22 years......so had lots of OTR exposure with my mother being a trucker and ex-husband but never been the "driver"! I am still trying to decide if I should secure my permit before heading out or just study my A$$ off and be ready to bust it out once I get there.....any input is opening appreciated!!

Nope I'm going up there with no Experience. I've been studying for my permit as well.. I kinda wanted to get it before I go but I think I'd do better If I'm actually in the truckers type of setting. I'm coming from augusta Ga I looked on line for what time greyhound leaves and it's gonna take awhile to get up there 😪 but I think around 1pm Sunday. I'm doing flatbed what about you?

I will be driving in on Saturday and staying in a local hotel for the night before checking in Sunday morning. I felt like that would give me a day to get myself organized and hopefully ahead of the game just a little.....my bus ride would have me traveling all night and arriving around 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning plus it would be a 12 hour trip vs. an easy drive less than 8 hours. I have been reading about how stressful the first few days can be......I am a planner and doer so want to do my best to alleviate as much unnecessary stress as possible. I think I just do it and be done.......

I have a feeling having some downtime before hitting road might be a cherished little gift!

Do you have any suggestions about items I might need to bring that are not on the "items to bring list" or tips to help make things flow better during training?

Okay folks...gotta a few questions as I am preparing to head out to Springfield, MO for May 4 training. First, I am a completely new driver with limit exposure so being prepared and as ahead of the game as possible is very important for me. I have been studying and feel pretty confident about the written exam material to secure my permit and endorsements at this point. My recruiter said it is not necessary to secure my permit before arrival but would like to know if that would help relieve some of the stress and chaos during my first few days of training. Input please???? Also, if any of you peeps have suggestions on items I might find helpful that are not listed on the "to bring list" that would be more than welcomed. Ready,set, go......
