DOT Physical after weight loss surgery?

Hey everyone, so I have been out of trucking for about a year and a half now. I just recently (a month ago) had weight loss surgery. My DOT Physical is about to expire and I want to renew it so I do not lose my Class A CDL as I would eventually like to get back into trucking in a year or 2 and don't want to start over with getting the license again. So would I be able to pass the DOT Physical even though I just had the surgery? I know they ask about past surgeries and this is the only one I have ever had. Thanks for your help everyone.

Need some help making a decision about Western Express or Freymiller.

I was with Prime last year for 5 months but then had a medical problem that kept me from driving. So I had to resign there. Went to Pride in January and then had an accident in a parking lot. I started to think trucking wasn't for me so I left them in March. I regret leaving them, and want to go back to trucking. So that's why I am looking into these companies.

Need some help making a decision about Western Express or Freymiller.

Both have pros and cons. The biggest ones being that Western Express has western regional and Freymiller has APUs on all their trucks. I have been told by both that home time is every 2 weeks. How is the weather from the midwest and east of that? I don't remember it being too bad when I was with Prime but it was nice to drive Western 11 with Pride Transport because it was good to know I was only a day or 2 away from family and the weather was good. I haven't really found much on Freymiller, but I hear Western Express is a solid company. I just can't decide which is more important, western regional or APU. Anybody have opinions on this and could help me out a bit?

How do inverters work?

Kat, I appreciate the response, however Western Express doesn't have APUs on their trucks.

How do inverters work?

I need to have an inverter in my truck when I go to Western Express because I have to use a cpap. Does the truck have to be on for the 12v inverter to continually draw power? Also, if I plug in a 12v cooler, how does that stay running 24/7 when the truck is off?

Confusion about what is DOT recordable.

So I received a message from a recruiter saying " Jason, I can go ahead and run your reports to see if you're qualified. If it's just those 2 accidents, you should be fine. But if they were both DOT recordable , then they are going to want to see the accident reports for both of those since they are inside 5 years old."

What makes something a DOT recordable accident? One was tagging a street light on a right hand turn (no ticket) and the other was a minor accident in a parking lot (front of my truck hit the front of another while backing...no ticket or police involved).

The backing accident isn't even on my DAC. Just trying to figure out what is DOT recordable and what isn't.

Question about the DAC Report.

For clarification, I was employed by them and not in training. I had prior experience with Prime Inc from June 2015 to October 2015. I had to stop for medical reasons. Then I went to work for Pride in January. Thanks for the info Rick. You are certainly right that it is better to disclose the info. I hadn't thought about them calling Pride, just looking at the DAC is all I thought of.

Question about the DAC Report.

Hey guys, so I was just wondering how the DAC Report works. I drove for Pride Transport for 2 1/2 months (mid January to end of March) and then quit because I got into an accident in a parking lot and I was a bit shaken up. Confidence was shot and I felt I shouldn't be driving. I'm over that and I miss trucking tremendously and I know accidents happen. Nobody got hurt. I was trying to park in a tight parking lot and the front of my truck hit the front of another guys truck. No police. What confuses me about my DAC is that I got my free report from HireRight end of September but it doesn't even show that I was employed by Pride Transport, let alone has the accident on it. Why is that? I am thinking about going back to trucking so I just was wondering how the DAC works in regards to me reporting my 10 year work history as well as any accidents I may have. Would I be able to leave out the accident?

Can you help me find a company?

Hey guys, so I have been around the forum before and have worked for Prime Inc and really enjoyed it. I had to stop due to a medical condition which, unfortunately is made worse by the lifestyle of being a trucker. So, sadly I cannot be a trucker any longer for my health. However, I am starting school at a community college to become a Diesel Mechanic so I can still be around the trucks. I enjoy working on my own car so I figure trucks should be fun too. I currently live in southern California, but am looking at moving to Arizona when I am done with school to get a job. I want to work for a trucking company with a large fleet. I have considered going back to Prime but their terminals are in Salt Lake City, UT Springfield, MO and Pittston, PA. What are some companies that have actual terminals in Arizona and not just a drop yard? I found a couple but want to find out what companies I could potentially work for when I am done.
