Experience Owner Operators which used Tractor to consider?
Hey All, When considering purchasing your own tractor, which brands or models would you experienced owners recommend? I know it's really all about how the previous owner cared for the vehicle, but are some brands more prone to poor quality and breakdowns than others? New driver, but over 50 & do most all of the mechanical work on my own car, just don't have the experience with Tractors. We used a Sterling Auto day cab for testing and practice and it was a piece of junk. Which sleeper would you purchase used if you had to do it all over again? Thanks

Transferring out-of-state CDL to Illinois?
Just obtained my CDL here near Chicago. I did it without going to a school. It was not easy but with determination and persistance you can do it. I agree with Dan 100% however. Not sure why anyone would want to move to Illinois for all of the same reasons that Dan has already mentioned. I'm trying to find a way out of here, along with a flood of other individuals and families. I've heard that the entire test is more difficult in California, especially the pre-trip.

OMG. WHEN are the mistakes going to end?
Thanks for the post Mountain Girl and I sure drivers appreciate your honesty. For the new drivers out there, was the problem that the load was positioned too far forward, or was the load not strapped down properly or were there other issues. What would you do to prevent this problem from happening in the future?
