Nothing about off duty driving says you have to return to the point of origion. Sounds like that might be a company policy.
During off duty driving you can in no way further the load you are on. In other words if you are getting paid and making money then you can not use off duty driving. Its designed for personal use. Not to be used for finding a place to sleep. If you are under a load or on the way to get a load that is on duty driving cause you are responsible for the load you are under AND you are being paid.
And where did I say to use it loaded? We bumped heads in the other forum frequently. I don't want to do it here also. Please respond to what I actually said and not what you thought I said. Thank you.

You should reread my opigional post. I said to use it after a drop, meaning chances are you'd be empty and not assigned to your next load. In this case, using line 5 to park for the night is perfectly legal as you aren't 'laden'.

1) It depends. For logging purposes you use the time zone that your companies main terminal is in. For example: If your companies main terminal is in Salt Lake City then you would use MDT/NST.
B) When it comes to trip planning and making delivery appoitments, you would go off the time zone the reciever is in.
2) Depends on the truck/equipment. Mainstream carriers try to keep their fleet relatively new to avoid breakdowns.
3) If you get held up at a delivery you can use line 5 to park at a truck stop. You will rarely run out of hours at a pick-up. If you do, that boils down to bad trip planning.
4) Nope.
5) Depends on the trainer. Trainers are humans too. Some are easier to get along with than others. There are some good trainers out there who actually teach and then there are the bad ones who just use the students as a log book. It boild down to luck.
6) Yes
7) Depends on the truck.

An Update After Being Out For About A Month
Man, that's sounds great...Every time one of you guys comes on here and posts these kinds of updates it gives the rest of us who are biting our nails and feeling unsure just a little bit more confidence that we CAN do it..Your training sounds like it was top notch..I like the description," Intense at times, but positive"..I can do intense, I LIKE intense...all the better if it's positive intensity..Roll On, brother..keep those great posts coming..
You can do it and succeed at it, you just have to have the heart for it. Many people have problems because they expect the industry to be something that it isn't.
