Illegal immigrants in trucking??

There are very few illegals in trucking. Proof of citizenship is required to get a CDL.

It is next to impossible for immigrants (legal or no) to get a work visa for a truck driving job. Trucking is classified by the U.S. Department of Labor as an "Unskilled Labor" job. Now before you get your panties all in a wad over that, there was considerable thought put into that classification, and they did that to protect your good American truck driver job from having your wages completely decimated by a large influx of foreign drivers.

in re[ply,, I have recently found a visa for internationals to drive in the US with full licence approval, the visa (I wont name the visa type) allows federal authorisation to get a car then a cdl in the space of a week if the driver so wishes. stuart from Australia

Drivers from other Countries

Stuart, I wish it was that easy. You're going to have to establish a residency here, get a green card to work here, and get a regular driver's license before you can begin the process of getting your CDL. The standards and requirements here are very strict. It's going to be a long process I'm afraid.

As Brett said, a long process...... Once you get your regular DL, you will need to have it for at least 1 year before you can even think about getting your CDL class A. Good luck....

I found the right visa to come over on,, it entitles me to work, get a car licence and a cdl within a week if I so wish then drive, thanks for the incentive to find a way

Thanks guys, I was hoping there would be a system of mutual recognition in place,, I will be talk to friends in Colorado about this situation. I already have visa/ green card sponsorship if I want it so approval most likely wont be an issue. also I have been assured that there is a massive driver shortage in the states at the moment and could be classed as a skilled worker.. theres lots to look at,, anyway thanks
