So for years I let the "Rookie solo driver" status stay. But after hearing today that I still lived in VA. I figured I might update my profile. As I sit here in downtown Chicago waiting to unload. It has occurred to me that I've been at this for 6 years. Time flies doesn't it?
I'm still having fun doing it. 🙃 Maybe I'm an experienced driver now.

General question about endorsements
Nobody *needs* a TWIC till you go to the port. They ask you if you have it. If you don't have it you can be escorted in some places. But you might be waiting for that escort for a long long time. Also I never paid a dime for my TWIC. If you work for a company that wants you to have it. Chances are they will cover it. As for the Passport. If you travel on vacations then you need it anyways.. And Playa Del Carmen is pretty fun and laid back🙄

What's up? Did you get on with OD ?!? (Inquiring minds & all that, lol!)
~ Anne ~
Nope. I never finished the application and here is why.
I just got back on the road a couple of weeks ago. After nearly a month long vacation. And realized that probably wouldn't happen at OD. Not saying it wouldn't happen in several years time but for a new hire probably not.
I did mention I'm pretty spoiled to pulling a tanker. The downside is not being home daily. The upside is I can take off.. well a month in this case.
Eventually I'll make a move. But I'm not in a bad spot and need to move quickly.
Ownership is frowned on here but it was something I was giving serious thought to... until the last two years when everyone else did the same thing. Numbers show a large increase in private ownership. That's not a bandwagon I wanna jump on.
At this point I'm not really sure what I wanna do. I'm content where I am. But if I could be home more I would. Also if I could find an out and back run from SC to someplace west and back with time off in-between runs I'd do that also. So.... to be continued...

How safe is it to stop in Laredo, TX?
Only problem I had in Laredo was I didn't bring cash.
Slept at a shipper or on the road next to it. Some nice lady was selling breakfast burritos out of her van. I waved my card hoping she had a cellphone swipe. No such luck... She gave me one anyways.
Keep the fridge stocked... I was still learning.
Also woke up in Compton on the side of the road. Was teaming, the truck should not have been stopped. Codriver shut down cause he couldn't find the place. Didn't wake me up. So I sat in the drivers seat and cleared the cobwebs of sleep out. As I sat there a street beggar aaked me for money. He was nice enough to tell me I should lock my door "cause it's a rough area" he said. I looked down and sure enough... Codriver hadn't locked the door.
Pack Rat pointed out the areas your more likely to have problems. And in those cases I try not to spend the evening. Stay out of town if you can, behind a gate is a possibility also if in town. But you won't know till you've been to those places once or twice or are able to see it on Google maps or if it's in your load messages.

Tractor washing at home - tips?
Be sure and look around town. I've lived 3 blocks from a car wash with a bay big enough for a tractor in tow seprate places I've lived. Much easier than keeping things on hand. And I agree.... Let the company pay someone else to wash it.
Most of the times I washed a company truck it was because it was raining on my way home. But I don't like my dirty tractor sitting in my driveway. In that case I'll wash it.

What does starting at the bottom of seniority look like? Is that more time on the dock or just working nights? Not really sure what to ask. I've never done LTL. Doing a more physical job is fairly appealing to me. Is it totally hourly or mileage also?
I'm kinda sold already I think, I know the money is good. Change is welcomed but still kinda nervous about any jump as I mentioned I do enjoy who I work for. How is scheduled time off? Like vacations? I pretty spoiled in that if I want a week off I just stay out. But I could see that being problematic with a structured schedule.
Again really just any info as to the change in routine from OTR to O.D.
Thanks again as I know this is pretty vague.

I know Truckingtruth has a few OD drivers. Tell me about them. I've been at it for 6 year OTR and now I'm looking for a change. I still love the longer loads but ever since I bought a house I've been trying to find a way to be home more and still make good money.
The last 3-4 years in a tanker has been great. But I think it's about time to come off the road. Not right this second but soon. I still work for a great company and if and when I make a move I'll miss a few office and shop personnel.
But I don't wanna wear myself out to a point where I hate what I do. So a change seems like the thing to do. Never pulled doubles but it seems like cool change of pace.

Sounds to me like you were experiencing what is referred to as "the KETO flu". This happens to some when starting this eating regimen.
I agree, but it never really went away. And it doesn't make any sense for me to start it now. With TRT you more or less need a high protien diet due to high protien synthesis. Never really paid much attention to diet, exercise. Never needed to as I've always been rather lean. 30+ sucks. I wanna go back to 20 something.

I have more energy on KETO than in the past 30 years. Fail a field breathalyzer test? Demand a blood test.
If it works for you great! It just wasn't working for me. I felt like crap- no pun intended.
Bodybuilders have been using a protein/ carb based diet for decades.
And in less than a year I've got great results.

TRT and Trucking
I wish I could give you a solid answer but to be honest. Nobody could really say anything legally. You have a prescription. But... just as it's been pointed out DOT my see the needles and give you a hard time. That being said. Nobody has ever spent that long looking in my bunk. And my prescription has never even came up. So... your mileage may vary. But so far I've got a few years on and never had a problem. After awhile when you realize what a vial of Testosterone/HCG and any AI you might need costs and that you can order your own blood work and just how much you could be saving by doing so.... Then you might run into problems.
