I finally begin my journey into the world of professional driving tomorrow. I'm nervous as heck! I enrolled with a local community college for an 8 week program, which is 13 days classroom, the rest on the road in 4-5 hour sessions. I'm really looking forward to it. To my understanding the classroom time will be all about nailing down the DoT manual, which I plan the supplement with the High Road training thingy on this site.
A big question that's on my mind is, should I be looking into getting some sort of pre-hire letters already? I feel like it's a bit too early for that, but what do I know? Another thing bugging me is that it's a smoke free campus. I'm somewhat of a heavy smoker (E-cig user to be exact) and not having a toot once in awhile through the day has got me pretty nervous too, so I may be picking up some of those nicotine patches to slap on if I need a fix during the day.
So anywho, I guess I'm just looking for some feedback on what to expect. I'm reading through some of the journal entries in the dairies section of the forums. This site is fantastic and I have learned so much from it already just through the career guide.
