Training with May

After a long bus ride from Springfield, Mo to Gary, Indiana I get to the hotel I will be staying at for the next few days. Tuesday was the normal drug test, paper work and road test day. Tuesday I got my physical done and finished up the paper work. Wednesday comes and we are shown how to put on chains, hours of service, fuel by weight and trip planing. I was to met my trainer Thursday am and then leave but I found out that plans have changed. I got a different trainer and she will not be here till Monday. So the new plan is for me to hang out at the terminal help more trailers around and help fuel. During this I have been working on my backing. I am learning but yet board lol Hope the weekend goes by fast, I'm ready to leave.

More Questions

Hello, I am currently in school but plan to go to May Trucking. I will be solo and have my little dog with me. So afar I am the only solo female driver in my school. Once I get my CDL I will be on a truck with a trainer for a few weeks. They should show me the ropes like understanding dispatch.

Companies are becoming more pet friendly as well as truck stops. Just ask the recruiter when you talk to them.

Hope to see you out there soon.

2nd week of Route 66

I just finished my 2nd week at Route 66 CDL School. So far so good. I will be testing next Friday. Feeling good about the pre trip and driving. I need to work on my clutch control when backing but I'm getting it. I will still have a week after I test so I can get my hours in. The classes are small and the instructors are great. They take the time to get to know you and will work with you to so you can pass the test.

Route 66

I started at Route 66 on Monday. There is 4 of us in the new class. The first day was paper work, physicals and drug test. They fed us lunch from a local restaurant and we started to studying for our permit. On Tuesday we continued to study for our permits watched some DVD's on the written test. On Wednesday we went uptown and got our permits. That afternoon we went over log books and the pre trip. Thursday we did the pre trip in the morning then we went to the shifting range, in a bobtail, and we learned how to upshift and downshift. I got in 7 miles of drive time that day. On Friday we worked on the pre trip again and back out to the shifting range. I drove around in the shifting range circle for a bit then I drove uptown them back to the school. I drove 22 miles that day. On Monday we will be going to the shifting range with a trailer.

We have weekends off. Class starts at 7 am and goes till 4. They provide lunch from a local restaurant everyday. The instructor are very nice and laid back but not so much that just stand around and let you teach yourself. I have my testing date of the 30th. I'm really excited about how this past week went and ready for next week.

Pardon my venting on CDL applications......

It was really nothing big. You can only renew your permit once and then you have to retest. So looks like Ill be taking the tests again.

Pardon my venting on CDL applications......

I got to the DMV to renew my CDL permit and the lady tells me they will not allow her to do so. She has to call them and with it being Saturday they are not there. She couldn't see anything wrong my information was all there, I was not suspended or revoked and to come back Monday and she will call to find out whats going on.

Now I'm thinking about all those companies that said no maybe they seen that and that's why I was denied.

Does anyone have any idea on what this could be? The DMV lady asked if I was a victim of identity theft I told her not that I know of but I guess that's a possibility.
