In recent years I have been working an average of 5 summer months a year in Alaska and taking the rest of the year off. Helps not to have a big nut every month. If drivers could work 6 months on and 6 off or 3 months on and 3 off do you think there are a lot of experienced drivers on the sidelines who would get back in the game? Basically take two drivers slip seating one truck throughout the year. Called Werner and Schneider to see if this is an option for an experienced driver and the answer was NO. I understand that if you are already working for a carrier and they are happy with you-----they will try to work with you== to accommodate your needs...

Larger trucking companies have more flexibility when it comes to hiring drivers with accidents and tickets. Go to a larger carrier. At the end of the day it is the insurance company who determines who can be hired or not. Plenty of JOBS.
